    Caring staff, clean facility, activities

I visit my sister and am impressed by the friendly, caring staff and the very clean, well-kept facility. There are lots of activities, wonderful music and good meals, and the team was supportive during a tough time - I'd consider this community for assisted living or rehab.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews reflect a facility with clear strengths in day-to-day resident experience but persistent operational concerns. On the positive side, many families describe a clean, well-kept environment with pleasant rooms and public areas. Caregiving staff are frequently characterized as friendly, compassionate, and attentive; nurses and aides receive particular praise for bedside manner and support during difficult transitions. Several accounts cite successful short-term rehabilitation outcomes, including post-stroke recovery, and some families view the facility as an appropriate option for assisted-living or hospice transitions.

At the same time, there is a consistent pattern of management and systems-level issues. Multiple comments describe a family-run or clique-oriented management culture that has contributed to low staff morale, pay disputes, and relatively high turnover. Those workforce pressures appear linked to inconsistent staffing levels on some shifts, which reviewers associate with delays in care, concerns about clinical supervision, and gaps in wound-care and fall-prevention practices. A number of families also reported problems with discharge coordination and external referrals, as well as missed or unclear communication between clinicians and family members.

Dining and activities present a mixed picture. The facility is credited for a robust activities program—music and social programming are recurring positives—and many visitors find the environment welcoming. Meal quality assessments vary: some reviewers praise the food, while others describe overcooked or canned items and inconsistent preparation. Prospective residents and families should expect strong social and environmental amenities but be prepared to ask specific questions about menu variety and meal-service consistency.

Of particular note are serious concerns beyond routine operational complaints: reviewers raised issues regarding equitable treatment of residents, including allegations of discriminatory behavior, and there are accounts of problematic clinical outcomes and concerns following a resident's death. These more severe items appear less uniform than the praise for frontline staff, but they warrant direct inquiry. In summary, Parkview appears to offer a compassionate caregiving staff and a clean, activity-rich environment for many residents; however, families seeking care for complex clinical needs or guaranteed continuity of care should probe management practices, staffing levels, care-coordination protocols, and safeguards for wound care, fall prevention, and discharge planning before selecting the facility.
