    Personalized responsive care, beautiful facility

I moved my mother in and have been very pleased. The staff are warm, professional and attentive-Kathy and the caregiving team made the transition smooth and keep up regular check-ins. The facility and grounds are beautiful and spotless, rooms are bright and home-like, meals are comforting, and there are plenty of engaging activities. I have real peace of mind with the personalized, responsive care here and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews describe The Residence at Oshkosh as a well‑kept, community‑oriented assisted living setting with many families praising the facility’s cleanliness, attractive grounds, and home‑like apartment layouts. Multiple accounts highlight staff members who are caring, proactive, and attentive; reviewers commonly note frequent check‑ins, help with transitions, and support during health decline, including positively described end‑of‑life care. The single‑floor design with a central lobby and cafeteria, along with continuing‑care options that allow partners to stay together, are cited as important practical strengths.

Care and staff: Staffing is frequently praised for compassion, responsiveness, and hands‑on assistance. Families report that staff often go above and beyond during move‑in, medical changes, and end‑of‑life situations. At the same time, reviewers indicate variability in staff experience and performance, and several note intermittent short staffing and frequent rotation. These staffing patterns appear linked to inconsistent responsiveness at times and to concerns about continuity of care. Communication from management is another recurring theme: many reviewers appreciate clear explanations and guidance, but others describe confusing or insufficient updates, especially around clinical or infection‑control matters.

Dining and activities: The community offers a broad activity schedule and active engagement efforts — exercise classes, bingo, and other resident‑focused programming are mentioned repeatedly and generally received positively. Dining receives mixed feedback: numerous residents praise the variety, healthy options, and supervised meals, while others describe cafeteria‑style service, variable food quality, and logistical issues such as lines or longer waits for less mobile residents. Prospective families should ask about meal service routines, accommodations for limited mobility, and sample menus during a tour.

Facilities and operations: The physical plant is consistently described as clean, bright, and well maintained, with pleasant outdoor spaces and comfortable apartment sizes. Admissions and move‑in processes are often noted as smooth and responsive, with rapid room readiness and help completing paperwork. Operational concerns raised by reviewers focus on management consistency—examples include promises that were not kept, unexpected policy changes (including changes in staff assignments), and perceived lack of accountability in some administrative interactions. Pricing is also a recurring practical consideration: reviewers mention relatively high rent and additional costs for one‑on‑one care.

Notable patterns and guidance: The dominant pattern is one of a caring environment with strong facility upkeep and an active program of services, tempered by operational variability around staffing, communication, and dining logistics. A small number of reviewers raise serious concerns about staff conduct and responsiveness; while these appear isolated relative to the overall positive feedback, they represent issues families should investigate directly. Prospective residents and their families would benefit from asking specific questions during a visit about staffing ratios and turnover, written communication protocols, meal accommodations for limited‑mobility residents, contract terms for one‑on‑one care, and current infection‑control procedures to clarify expectations before move‑in.

    About The Residence at Oshkosh

The Residence at Oshkosh sits at 1110 W Murdock Ave near the Fox River in Oshkosh, WI, and you'll find a whole mix of options there, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care for Alzheimer's and other dementias, and even Skilled Nursing, so adults with changing medical needs can often stay right where they are. The community runs like a small neighborhood with bright, roomy apartments folks can decorate to feel at home, and there are both studio deluxe and standard studio floor plans, starting at $4,795 and $4,295. Meals come from professional chefs in a dining room that serves all day, and special diets like low sodium, sugar-free, kosher, and even vegan get attention, so residents with allergies or diabetes have choices they can enjoy.

There's a whole list of amenities to keep daily life comfortable-housekeeping, laundry, dry cleaning, scheduled and on-demand transportation if you need to get to appointments or just want to shop, plus you've got parking if you still drive. Both indoor and outdoor spaces let people socialize, walk, garden, or relax on patios or in an enclosed courtyard. You'll find a beauty salon and barber shop, devotional services for different faiths, a family meditation room, a library, computer lounge, arts and crafts area, a movie theater, TV lounges, and organized activities like movie nights, game nights, and trips, so there's usually something going on if you want to join in. They offer social programs, health talks, and resident-run clubs, with fitness and wellness activities on the weekly calendar.

For those who need a bit more help, caregivers provide assistance with bathing, dressing, transfers, and medication management, designed to fit what each person actually needs, day or night, and with a 24-hour call system in place so help isn't far if there's trouble. The place is wheelchair-friendly and openly welcomes folks with Alzheimer's, terminal diagnoses, and frail elders, giving peace of mind that someone's around who's trained for memory care, dementia, and end-of-life comfort. There are specialist therapies like light therapy, reminiscence activities, plus hospice and a plan for aging in place if someone's needs change. Spiritual care and chaplain visits happen on-site, and families can talk through planning for the future with guides and checklists, even resources about cremation or memorial needs, and there's a small shop for urns and keepsakes if someone wants it. Utilities like cable TV and internet can be included, and there's shared computer access as well as telephones in rooms.

Though there isn't a lot of marketing shine-just facts backed up by real people-a 4.3 average from 17 reviews points to a generally positive experience. The facility is state licensed and goes through regular checks. Hours run every day, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and the structure itself is a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) set up for nine or more people at a time. SKilled clinical staff work alongside the support staff, so both long-term and transitional care needs can be met onsite. The setting is relaxed and friendly, with an eye toward giving each person a good amount of independence but real support when it matters. Tours help families see rooms, dining, and how daily life feels, but the sense is that most folks like the dedicated staff, enjoy plenty of freedom, and find there's enough going on both inside and out to stay engaged as they age.
