Lake View Recplex sits in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, right by Lake Andrea and Prairie Springs Park, on a truly lovely piece of land, and anyone driving by can see how big it is because the place covers over 300,000 square feet, making it the biggest municipally-owned recreation facility in the country, and there's always something going on inside or outside no matter the time of year. The Recplex has 60 assisted living units with one-bedroom and shared living quarters, each equipped with ADA-compliant private baths and helpful pull cords for safety. They handle daily needs like dressing, showering, moving from bed, and bathroom help, and they also have support for diabetes care, speech and occupational therapy, and even massage therapy if someone wants that, along with unscheduled help when it's needed. Health checkups are done by registered nurses, and the laundry, linen, full home maintenance, paid utilities, parking, and moving services are all handled by staff, which really takes the worry out of the day-to-day chores.
The dining hall serves chef-prepared meals, and there's plenty of space to eat and gather, with pets like cats and dogs welcome in the community. The grounds stay secure and well-kept, with a theatre for events and large indoor and outdoor areas for exercise, including an exercise and fitness room. People can sign up for wellness programs, and for those who are into arts and crafts, there are regular classes. There's a big ice arena with two NHL-sized rinks for skating or hockey, a walking and running track indoors, a 60,000 square foot Fieldhouse with courts for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball, and an Aqua Arena with a heated pool that can switch layouts and seat up to 600 people. Folks enjoy a small indoor waterpark with its slides, hot tub, whirlpool channel, and water fortress, and the Olympic swimming pool gets used plenty for both fun and fitness.
The staff runs over 75 group fitness classes every week, plus dance, gymnastics, and things like hot yoga in a specialized room, with programs for children, teens, and older adults. Fitness trainers and coaches are certified and available to help, and the place offers sports performance training too. For families, children as young as six weeks old can join the Baby U and Preschool U childcare programs, there are summer camps, before and after school care, and drop-in options when needed. Parties, weddings, field trips, company outings, birthday parties, and other events can be booked in the indoor and outdoor spaces, and there are pavilion rentals and equipment rentals-a booking system lets people check dates and pay online. Members and non-members can both use the rentals and join scheduled public events like open skate sessions. The Recplex has seven different departments, so there's always something new being added or improved, and the staff stays focused on offering programs, services, and education aimed at helping everyone enjoy better health, safety, and daily life.
