    Clean comfortable affordable independent living

I'm very happy I moved here - my apartment is clean, comfortable and affordable, and the complex is beautiful with several pleasant indoor/outdoor common areas. Staff and maintenance are friendly and responsive (repairs often same day), and there's a nice variety of activities like bingo, coffee hour, puzzles and games. After a great tour and helpful staff, I'd recommend this for independent living.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but leans positive for basic independent living needs and affordability, while raising notable concerns about management, staffing, and certain aspects of resident experience. Many reviewers praise the physical property: the complex is frequently described as impressive, beautiful, and well laid-out, with multiple common areas and indoor/outdoor spaces where residents can gather. Apartments themselves are commonly called clean, comfortable, and inviting. Several reviewers specifically noted helpful, friendly staff and fast, responsive maintenance—sometimes reporting same-night repairs. Activities and social programming are regularly mentioned as positives (weekly bingo, coffee hour, puzzles, games and other small events), and small touches like flower boxes were highlighted as pleasant. The facility's cost and structure make it an attractive option for people on a fixed income seeking independent living: reviewers repeatedly describe it as affordable and a good value for that cohort.

However, the reviews also expose consistent concerns that temper the positive impressions. A number of reviewers report negative interactions with certain staff members, particularly in leasing and occasionally maintenance. Descriptions include unpleasant or rude leasing office staff, staff who appear annoyed by others trying to help or clean, and maintenance personnel who have been perceived as rude. There are also recurring complaints about low staffing levels—some reviewers explicitly say there are only two staff on site—which contributes to worries about responsiveness and oversight. These staffing concerns tie to service-impact issues: a long intercom outage lasting nearly two months was cited, with reviewers asking for stronger corporate action and faster resolution.

Care and services are important recurring themes. Parkview operates as independent living: no meals are served and residents cook their own, and multiple reviewers emphasize there is no on-site medical staff and limited or no weekend coverage. For prospective residents who need medical supervision, weekend care, or assisted living services, this is a significant limitation. Several reviews mention a general lack of special services for residents and an institutional feel in some common areas, reinforcing that this property is oriented toward independent, budget-conscious living rather than assisted-care or luxury amenity offerings.

Perception and management issues surface in other ways. Some reviewers felt misled about low-income status or believed the facility operates with a strong profit motive, which contributes to distrust in management. Complaints about how residents were treated—feeling uncomfortable with staff interactions or resident treatment—also appear. The property’s scale and layout create mixed impressions: while many praise its size and number of common spaces, others describe a warehouse-like or crowded feel in units and public areas. Location is another practical factor for a few: some residents find it far from family, which may matter for those who rely on frequent visits.

Taken together, the reviews suggest Parkview Senior Apartments is a viable, reasonably priced option for independent-living seniors who prioritize cleanliness, safety, social activities, and prompt maintenance over on-site medical care or upscale amenities. The strongest positives are affordability, a tidy living environment, and social programming; the strongest negatives are inconsistent staff interactions, low on-site staffing levels, limited medical/support services, occasional institutional atmosphere, and some facility-management responsiveness problems. Prospective residents should verify specific concerns up front—ask about staffing levels and schedules, emergency/intercom systems and recent outages, what medical or weekend support (if any) is available, policies around leasing and income qualifications, and how common areas are managed—to ensure this community matches their care needs and personal expectations.

    About Parkview Senior Apartments

Parkview Senior Apartments, also called Parkview Senior Residences, sits at 100 Parkview Lane in Savoy, Illinois, and you'll find clean and safe apartments meant for older adults who like simple living without a lot of fuss, and some of the apartments come in different floor plans, so you can get a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom and the space goes up to 848 square feet, with each unit having things like hardwood-style or carpeted floors, window coverings, cable readiness, electric range with oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, disposal, and its own heating and air conditioning. The complex has on-site laundry, elevators for getting around the building, and a recreation room, plus a clubhouse and community rooms when people want to be social or just sit and have some coffee, while a business center and a fitness center are also around for residents who want to use them, and folks can enjoy the courtyard or organize gatherings if they want. Some units have easy access right now, while others you'd have to ask about, and the units are listed with numbers like #141, #219, or #251 when they're available. Parking's taken care of with surface lots, off-street parking, and even detached garages for those who want one, and high-speed internet's available if that's important, with cable TV as well. On-site management includes a property manager named Amanda Sullivan and friendly staff who handle repairs and maintenance when something breaks or needs fixing, and the team runs medication management if residents require it, along with other support, but most folks here stay pretty independent and active since these apartments mainly suit seniors who don't need a lot of hands-on care. There's a pet policy, but you need to contact them to find out exactly what's allowed. The place is within reach of public transportation and doesn't offer anything fancy, but it's meant for people on a fixed income who want comfort and convenience, simple surroundings, and a bit of community spirit. The staff helps out with basic needs and offers support for seniors without jumping in too much, and the buildings themselves are easy to get around. The community's designed for independent older adults, and it's an option people look at when they want something practical, safe, and laid-back for their next home.
