About Armenian Nursing And Rehabilitation Center

Armenian Nursing And Rehabilitation Center, also called the Home for the Armenian Aged, sits in Emerson, New Jersey, and has been around since 1938 as a nonprofit that works hard to provide charitable relief and support for older adults from all backgrounds without worrying about race, gender, religion, or where someone's from, and while the nursing and rehab center closed in April 2021 after serving the community for over 83 years, the board, including folks from both New York and New Jersey, has approved new plans that hope to offer a mix of rehabilitation, assisted living, memory care, and nursing home services in the future. The center's last setup had 86 beds for long-term skilled care, private and semi-private rooms, a renovated gym for rehab, a recreational room filled with activities each day to help with both body and mind, and an elegant dining room where residents chose from a range of international dishes, which made the place warm and welcoming, and made sure everyone got meals, housekeeping, and laundry help.

There's always been a strong focus on individualized care plans for each resident, and services have ranged from long-term skilled nursing and home care to short-term respite stays and hospice support, plus sub-acute rehab with therapy that starts right when a person arrives and focuses on mobility, pain, and stamina, and the staff of about 320 people put an emphasis on residents' physical, mental, and emotional needs, giving specialized memory care for those who needed it and all sorts of assistive services for daily living, healthcare, and wellness. Even though the center's assets are valued at $575,912 this year and it's run into some hard times with expenses outpacing revenues, it still receives grants, some from the Armenian Home Foundation and others like the Bedrosian Foundation, and it takes tax-deductible donations through its website at anrcenter.org if folks want to support it. The grounds outside are maintained and feature a large memorial to the Armenian Genocide, there are common areas for residents and visitors, and the place has spots for tours so families and potential residents can meet the staff, see the facilities, or just take a look at how things are run.

Housekeeping, laundry, and one or two prepared meals a day have always been standard here, with on-site emergency medical and general healthcare ready for people who need it, and the rooms-private or semi-private-give options for people depending on what they want. Tours can be arranged over the phone, email, or an online form, and the board's working closely with an engineering firm and a law firm to handle land issues and keep the facility moving forward on new building plans. The center's always had a big commitment to nurturing the health and wellness of older adults, especially those needing help with both physical challenges and emotional care, and while it paused direct resident services, the intent is to reactivate as a continuum of care community, mixing independence with the support and nursing services many have come to expect since the place first opened, and all in a way that honors its charitable roots and long history serving the elderly in New Jersey.
