    Excellent care and amazing rehab

I had a very good experience here. Jonathan in admissions was helpful and not pushy, staff genuinely cared, nursing was excellent, and rehab was incredible-my family member regained the ability to walk with a cane and can feed himself again. The recently remodeled facility has a nice dining room and rehab area, friendly staff, and both shared and private rooms.

    Summary of reviews

Regency Gresham Nursing & Rehab Center presents a mixed profile: reviewers consistently praise the facility’s admissions approach and its rehabilitative services, while also identifying recurring operational weaknesses related to communication, responsiveness, and environmental maintenance.

Care and rehabilitation: The facility’s therapy program is a clear strength. Multiple accounts describe meaningful functional gains made during short-term rehab stays, including improvements in mobility and increased independence with activities such as eating. Nursing staff are often described as caring and capable, and the rehab area is noted as well-equipped. However, reviewers also flagged concerns about overall clinical oversight: families describe infrequent clinical updates from therapists and physicians, and some felt a lack of proactive RN-led care coordination.

Staffing and responsiveness: Frontline staff receive praise for friendliness and compassion, and individual caregivers were noted as responsive at times. At the same time, a pattern emerges of long response times to call lights and assistance requests, particularly around shift changes, and reviewers perceive a staffing mix that relies more on CNAs than on RNs. These operational features are associated with delays in attention, gaps in routine monitoring, and isolated incidents that raise concerns about timeliness of basic care.

Dining and activities: The dining room and recent interior renovations are positive points; the facility offers both private and shared rooms and a pleasant dining environment. Meal quality and consistency are areas of concern, with reports of cold or unappealing food and variability in meal service. Activity offerings are constrained by limited transportation resources — there is no on-site bus for regular field trips — which may reduce opportunities for off-site engagement.

Facilities and maintenance: The center has undergone recent remodeling and offers a comfortable dining area and a good rehabilitation space. Conversely, reviewers cite environmental maintenance issues such as inconsistent room temperature control, broken in-room amenities, and uneven attention to resident belongings. These problems affect perceived comfort and contribute to impressions that maintenance and housekeeping are inconsistent.

Management and communication: The most consistent operational concern is communication. Families described difficulty getting timely updates from staff, limited follow-up from care managers, and frustration with the transfer/admission process. Some noted confusion around timelines and expectations during admissions and transfers. There were also references to visitation limits during infection-control periods, which affected family access in some cases.

Overall pattern and considerations: Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s demonstrated rehabilitation strengths and caring individual caregivers against recurring concerns about responsiveness, clinical oversight, communication, and environmental maintenance. If short-term rehab and therapy are the primary needs, the facility’s therapy outcomes may be appealing; if ongoing, highly supervised nursing care and frequent family communication are priorities, it would be advisable to discuss staffing ratios, communication protocols, maintenance response times, and activity/transportation options with management before deciding.

About Regency Gresham Nursing & Rehab Center

Regency Gresham Nursing & Rehab Center sits as a skilled nursing facility that offers many types of care for seniors, with a main focus on people who need help with daily living, memory assistance, and long-term medical care. Seniors at Regency Gresham can get assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care for dementia or Alzheimer's, and hospice care, along with rehabilitation after surgery, illness, or injury. The nursing home holds a 4-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and one person on the community site gave it five stars, though its community score is 6.5 out of 10, placing it as the 14th highest-rated option in Gresham, so it's recognized for some strengths but isn't at the very top. The building is part of the Regency Pacific network, and it accepts Medicare and Medicaid, which helps residents and families handle the financial side.

People who live at Regency Gresham can pick from studio, semi-private, shared, or companion rooms, each having basics like private bathrooms, cable TV, kitchenettes, phones, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. The atmosphere stays active, with daily events, outdoor programs, a community garden, walking paths, and group activities in spaces like a movie theater, wellness room, activity room, and library. The dining area offers restaurant-style meals, and the kitchen can prepare food for allergies or diabetes, so special diet needs get met.

Safety is a regular focus at Regency Gresham, with emergency alert systems and a staff that supervises residents, especially those at risk of wandering, which is helpful for families worried about loved ones with memory loss. Nursing and care staff cover the building 12 to 16 hours a day, and doctors or specialists carry out services for both medical and non-medical needs, including medication help, bathing, dressing, and transfer assistance. They handle services for non-ambulatory residents as well. The center has a Medicare-Certified Home Health Care option, provides both long-term and short-term stays including respite care for family caregivers needing a break, and features rehabilitation therapy using modern equipment to help people get their strength back between hospital and home.

Other help includes housekeeping, laundry, family support, and move-in coordination, along with parking and transportation for errands or appointments. Residents have access to group fitness in the fitness room and can join music or arts programs. Regency Gresham doesn't promise perfection but gives a steady mix of nursing, daily living help, activities, and medical services for older adults who need that level of support for longer or shorter stays.
