    Caring staff and effective rehab

I stayed here and appreciated the caring, friendly staff-nurses, CNAs and therapists were attentive and supportive. Rehab therapy helped my recovery, meals were good and improving, and my room and the facility were very clean and comfortable. The social worker kept my family informed and the atmosphere felt homey and welcoming. I'd recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Kearsley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center presents a mixed but actionable profile. The facility is frequently described as clean and well maintained, with pleasant grounds, an accessible one‑floor layout, and dedicated therapy spaces. Rehabilitation services — physical, occupational and speech therapy — receive consistently strong praise for clinical skill and positive patient progress; many families and residents highlight the therapy staff as a primary strength. On-site amenities such as a barber/hairdresser and dialysis‑friendly arrangements, along with attentive front‑desk staff and proactive discharge planning in numerous cases, support transitional care needs.

Clinical care quality shows meaningful variability. Numerous accounts describe compassionate, skilled nurses and nursing assistants who deliver attentive care; however, there are recurring concerns about inconsistent nursing presence and delays in responding to call bells, particularly on nights and weekends. Reviews indicate problems with timely medication administration and pain‑management, and a pattern of uneven wound‑care and dressing‑change practices. Incontinence‑care delays and irregular toileting assistance are raised as operational concerns rather than isolated descriptions; families should seek clarification on the facility's protocols for continence care and monitoring.

Communication and coordination are prominent themes. Several reviews point to information loss between shifts, paperwork errors, and difficulty getting clear, timely updates for appointments or referrals. Promised room assignments or private accommodations are not always fulfilled on arrival, and some families experienced delays reaching social work or receiving follow‑up. These gaps extend to administrative areas — lengthy intake paperwork, missed or incorrect documents for appointments, and occasional slow responsiveness from case management are recurring items.

Dining and housekeeping show mixed performance. Many residents find meals acceptable and note that dietary needs can be accommodated, but there are repeated notes about inconsistent meal quality, temperature/texture issues, and occasional delivery of incorrect diet items. Housekeeping and room cleanliness are often praised, yet there are also specific reports of inconsistent bathroom cleaning, lingering odors in some areas, and variability in linen and bedding change frequency.

Operationally, staffing levels appear to affect the resident experience. Reports of understaffing or uneven coverage correlate with longer response times, less proactive care, and variable weekend/night performance. Equipment procurement and therapy scheduling can be delayed at times, creating frustration around mobility aids and appointment timing. There are also isolated but notable concerns about security of personal items and property control that merit attention.

Bottom line: Kearsley offers strong rehabilitation services, a generally clean environment, and several examples of excellent, compassionate staff and administrative support. Prospective residents and families should verify current staffing patterns, clarify expectations about private rooms and diet management, ask about protocols for continence care, wound management, and medication timing, and confirm social‑work availability and appointment communication procedures before admission. These steps will help align expectations and identify whether the facility's operational practices match the resident's clinical and support needs.
