    Friendly staff, clean community, peaceful

I moved my mom here and we've been very pleased. The staff - especially Mary Paige and Ashley - are friendly, helpful and go above and beyond; move-in was smooth and they handled meds and paperwork with care. The community is clean, well-maintained, roomy and active, with a home-like feel that gives us real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Landings of Northport is frequently described as a clean, well-kept assisted-living community with a strongly resident-focused culture. Reviews emphasize a welcoming environment, single-level floorplan, wide hallways and a variety of apartment sizes that accommodate different needs. Grounds and common spaces (courtyard, walking trail, dining room) are consistently noted as attractive and conducive to socializing.

Care and staff: Caregiving and nursing receive extensive praise for responsiveness, personal attention and name recognition of residents. Many families highlight individual caregivers and managers for going above and beyond during moves and transitions. At the same time, reviewers describe variability in clinical consistency: while most experiences are positive and provide peace of mind, a small number of accounts describe significant clinical incidents and concerns about care continuity. Prospective families should ask about current clinical staffing levels, staff turnover, and protocols for clinical escalation.

Dining and nutrition: Dining is a core feature — many reviewers compliment the dining room atmosphere, healthy choices and friendly service. However, there is a recurrent theme of inconsistent food quality, seasoning and menu accuracy, and several reviewers linked those issues to kitchen staffing changes. Corporate/management involvement in addressing kitchen turnover was noted; families may want to inquire about current kitchen leadership, sample menus and dining continuity plans.

Activities and social life: The community offers a robust activities calendar including bingo, dominoes, live singing, worship services, group outings, field trips and small-group activities. Reviewers frequently mention active engagement opportunities, social events and resident-initiated programs. These offerings appear to support social connection and adjustment for many residents.

Facilities and amenities: On-site amenities such as a beauty salon, library, movie theater and computer room are available and add to quality-of-life. Apartments are described as roomy and home-like. Maintenance response is commonly praised for timely fixes, though isolated delays (for example, an AC repair) were reported. Some reviewers requested additional exercise equipment and noted community-room furniture/layout limitations that could affect safety or comfort.

Management and administration: Many families commend front-line staff and administrators for helpfulness and an open-door approach. Recurring operational concerns include opaque extra-service charges, billing or accounts-payable communication issues, and fee increases tied to medication management. A few reviews referenced delays in refunds and account-collection interactions; these suggest the need for clear pre-move financial counseling and written explanations of additional fees.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The dominant pattern is positive — a caring staff, clean environment and active social programming. The primary areas for prospective residents to investigate further are dining consistency and kitchen staffing, current clinical staffing stability and procedures, pest-control/sanitation history, detailed breakdown of monthly fees and extra-service charges, and waitlist status. Asking targeted questions during a tour (meet current dining leadership, review recent survey/inspection results, request a sample care plan and a copy of fee schedules) will help families confirm whether operational improvements align with their expectations.
