    Compassionate clean attentive memory care

I placed my mom here and am very pleased - the staff are genuinely caring, knowledgeable, and attentive, and they treat residents with dignity in an immaculately clean, home-like facility. Meals are excellent (diabetic options available), activities are abundant, and the memory/clinical team with 24-hour nursing gives me real peace of mind. Friendly, family atmosphere and strong communication - I would recommend this community to other families.

    Summary of reviews

The Courte at Citrus Heights elicits strongly polarized impressions. Many families describe a clean, well-maintained, hotel-like environment with spacious common areas and active programming. Reviewers frequently praise an overall home-like atmosphere, individualized care plans, and staff who are described as warm, patient, and compassionate. The community is noted for clinical strengths as well — availability of 24-hour nursing, capacity for insulin administration and Hoyer lifts, hospice support, and staff who can manage higher-acuity needs. Dining and events receive consistent positive remarks: varied menus, diabetes-friendly options, festive activities, and active efforts to keep residents engaged during COVID-related restrictions (including Skype/FaceTime communication) are commonly highlighted.

At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns that prospective residents and families should evaluate. Several reviewers raised issues about staffing stability and on-floor responsiveness: high turnover, periods when caregivers were not visibly present, and perceptions of inconsistent attention during unplanned visits. These staffing patterns are associated in reviews with gaps in documentation and incident reporting; reviewers cite inconsistent or incomplete clinical records and family communication about adverse events. Relatedly, some reviews point to perceived inadequacies in monitoring and security (for example, limited surveillance or motion-detection measures) and to variability in memory-care supervision. Together these items suggest potential weaknesses in incident prevention, follow-up, and transparency.

Management and administrative themes are mixed. Leadership and individual managers receive praise for responsiveness, team coordination, and compassionate guidance; however, families also describe process issues such as move-in delays, occasional denial or limitation of services after approval, and pricing increases without clear breakdowns. These operational inconsistencies appear to coexist with strong front-line staff performance in many accounts, indicating variability across shifts or units rather than uniformly positive or negative performance.

For prospective residents and families: The Courte offers many strengths — modern facilities, engaging programming, and clinical capability for higher-acuity care — balanced against operational concerns that merit specific inquiry. Recommended questions and observations include staffing ratios across shifts, protocols for incident documentation and family notification, fall-prevention and monitoring systems, specific memory-care staffing models, examples of recent care-level assessments, and a clear written explanation of fees and any recent pricing changes. In-person visits (including unannounced short visits at different times) and review of recent clinical-incident policies can help clarify whether the community’s operational practices match the frequently positive descriptions of staff and amenities.
