    New resident happy with amenities

I recently moved into a brand-new, very clean senior community and I'm very happy so far. The staff are friendly, helpful and responsive, the full-time activities director keeps a packed monthly calendar (daily exercise, movies, games, charcuterie boards and social events), the grounds and amenities are lovely, and my two-bedroom with washer/dryer is exactly what I wanted - I would definitely recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Connect55+ Manchester presents as a newly built independent-living community with many strengths and some operational limitations to weigh. The property is consistently described as clean and modern, with attractive grounds and a good range of on-site amenities. Apartment configurations include one- and two-bedroom units, and residents value in-unit conveniences such as washer/dryer hookups and trash service. The community also promotes pet-friendly policies and safe walking areas, which are cited positively by multiple residents.

Staff and programming are frequently highlighted as a core strength. Many reviewers emphasize friendly, personable caregivers and administrative staff who provide personal attention and companionship. The community employs a full-time activities director and maintains a visible calendar of events: daily exercise, movie nights, games, and themed social gatherings (for example, charcuterie evenings) are commonly mentioned. These offerings contribute to an engaged social environment and have helped new residents settle in and form connections.

However, reviewers also identify several operational concerns that may affect prospective residents. The community operates as independent living rather than a higher-acuity care setting; reviewers note limited to no on-site medical care or regular meal service, which should be clarified for those expecting assisted living or dining support. Maintenance reliability and responsiveness are other recurring issues — examples include household appliance failures and the need for follow-up — suggesting maintenance workflows may be inconsistent. Noise transfer between apartments and constrained parking are additional quality-of-life matters cited by residents.

Management and financial practices are another area of mixed feedback. While some residents describe supportive and attentive staff who assisted through difficult transitions, others report difficulty obtaining timely responses from management, experiences of administrative runaround, and concerns about fee transparency. Affordability is a notable theme: reviewers raise concerns about annual price increases and the burden those increases can create for individuals on fixed incomes. Perceptions of unit size relative to cost also inform impressions of value for money.

In summary, Connect55+ Manchester appears to offer a well-appointed, activity-rich independent-living option with strong front-line staff and a lively events program. Prospective residents should confirm the level of clinical and dining services provided, ask detailed questions about maintenance response protocols and parking availability, and review lease terms regarding fees and annual increases to assess long-term affordability. The facility may be a good fit for older adults seeking a social, low-acuity living environment in new construction, provided they are comfortable with limited on-site care and clarify management policies before moving in.

    About Connect55+ Manchester

Connect55+ Manchester | A New 55 Plus Active Senior Living Community sits at 140 Spencer Street, Manchester, CT 06040, in a spot close to highways, shopping, dining, parks, and other local attractions, so people can get where they need to go easily, and the place is surrounded by green spaces, flowers, and walking paths, which makes things pleasant. The community is still being built, expected to open in early fall, and has units available soon, including 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom options, with square footage ranging from 637 to 1,037 square feet, plus units for those who need ADA features and ones that come with decks, so there's some variety for different needs, and prices for these units go from $1,555 to $1,765. The apartments have in-unit washers and dryers, air conditioning, microwaves, dishwashers, and handrails, which makes daily life easier, and every apartment is cable-ready and set up for high-speed internet, so residents can stay connected with friends, family, or just relax with a good show.

The community's designed for active seniors over 55, and people who want to keep living independently but might need some help with daily activities now and then, offering support with things like medication reminders, personal care, and housekeeping when needed, while also having wellness checks and full-time maintenance so folks don't have to worry about repairs or health questions. There are social events, classes, and group activities on-site, like movie nights in the comfortable theater with leather chairs and old movie posters on the walls, and a fitness center and walking trails, plus hobby rooms and a clubhouse where people can meet new friends or try new things, so there's a sense of belonging and something to do each day if someone wants to join in.

The staff is known to be friendly, with a property manager and an activity coordinator who help keep things running and plan events, and the place is pet-friendly, which is good for those with animal companions. Although the community doesn't provide meals or function as a nursing home, it does offer access to a wide range of care, like home health care, memory care, adult day services, hospice care, respite care for short-term needs, and both independent living and assisted living, so residents can get the right help if things change. The buildings are new and modern, and there's an onsite salon for hair and beauty services, along with a dining and activity room overlooking a patio, which makes it easier to spend time with others or relax in a bright space. Everything's managed by Calamar, and the focus is on a low-maintenance, active lifestyle with enough care and support to help seniors live how they want, so people can enjoy their retirement years without too much hassle or worry.
