    About Curtis Home

Curtis Home, sometimes called The Curtis Home St. Elizabeth Center, is a senior care facility in Connecticut with 60 beds for skilled nursing and rehabilitation and another 34 beds in its Residential Care Home for those who want some independence but need support. Residents can choose from assisted living, memory care, short-term rehabilitation, and skilled nursing, so people can stay through different stages of need, whether they're recovering from illness or need long-term care. Staff includes licensed and registered nurses, nursing assistants, occupational and physical therapists, and they're on the premises at all times, making sure residents get 24-hour supervision, medication management, and help with bathing, dressing, and transfers. The memory care area has special features for those with dementia or memory impairments, and the staff helps with psychological and neurological needs at any time of day. Curtis Home calls some of its areas and services by unique names, like the Crown Terrace Apartments for residents who live more independently, and uses its own terms for different programs. Residents get meals planned by a registered dietitian, and meals are served in a dining room. The facility provides housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, emergency alert systems, and a 24-hour call system. Social workers help residents adjust or transition to other living places if needed. They offer move-in coordination, organize recreational activities like planned trips and movie nights, and provide rooms to socialize with friends and family. The place is wheelchair accessible, has both private and shared rooms, gardens, walking paths, arts rooms, and a barber and salon. Residents use transportation and parking services arranged by the nursing staff, who can also schedule medical appointments and set up consulting services in audiology, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, and psychiatry. Curtis Home operates every day between 8:00 and 20:00, although it's closed right now. The place runs in association with the Connecticut Association of Health Care Facilities and offers care for people with both simple and complex needs, including those needing IV services, hospice, and outpatient rehabilitation. Environmental services like cleaning and laundry are done seven days a week, and staff help with daily living activities for people who need extra hands. Curtis Home has a website at thecurtishome.org.
