    Compassionate staff and excellent care

I'm very grateful for the compassionate, hardworking staff at Jerome Home - phenomenal RNs (special thanks to Annette and Amanda), CNAs, Paula and Carmel (MSW) who kept my mom comfortable and dignified. Nursing, Dr. Mike, and the OT/PT teams were knowledgeable and responsive; rehab and on-site services are excellent. The facility is beautiful, extremely clean, with great meals, activities, gardens and a homey dining room. Overall I felt well cared for and would confidently recommend Jerome Home.

    Summary of reviews

Overall feedback presents a facility with notable clinical and hospitality strengths alongside several operational weaknesses that prospective families should evaluate directly. Positive observations center on clinical care: nursing staff and certified nursing assistants are frequently described as knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive, and therapy teams (OT/PT) receive consistent praise for effectiveness and motivation toward recovery. Families and residents commonly highlight strong physician oversight and specific staff members who provided exemplary care.

The campus and amenities are another consistent strength. Reviewers describe a clean, well-maintained environment with roomy, home-like private rooms, attractive dining spaces, and pleasant outdoor areas including a courtyard and gardens. Dining is commonly characterized as high quality and home-style, and on-site services such as a hairdresser, fitness center, podiatry, and optometry add convenience. Housekeeping and laundry services are noted as reliable, and activity programming—led by an engaged activities director—appears robust, with arts and crafts, puzzles, and regular organized programs cited as enhancing resident life.

Rehabilitation and therapy capabilities receive generally positive comments; many reviewers express confidence in returning for outpatient therapy after an inpatient stay. However, there is mixed feedback about continuity and responsiveness of rehab care. While therapy staff are praised, some accounts describe delays in assistance and issues transferring residents to therapies, suggesting variability in operational consistency during hands-on care periods.

Operational and management concerns recur in the feedback. Administrative areas—particularly billing, insurance pre-authorization, and claims coordination—are a frequent source of frustration, with examples of incorrect coding, disputed charges, and POA/authorization communication breakdowns. Communication with families around discharge and billing can be inconsistent. Staffing patterns also emerge as a concern: reviewers describe times of short staffing, missed call-bell responses, and uneven initiative among staff on certain shifts. Related observations point to pockets of problematic workplace culture that can affect teamwork and continuity of care.

There are also safety-related concerns that warrant attention. Isolated but serious accounts describe a fall-related incident and equipment-handling errors, and broader feedback raises questions about adherence to some safety and transfer protocols. These items appear episodic but significant; they suggest prospective residents and families should specifically inquire about fall-prevention measures, safety-device protocols, and staffing ratios during visits.

In summary, Jerome Home & Arbor Rose appears to offer strong clinical and therapeutic services, a clean and pleasant environment, engaging activities, and many committed staff members. Prospective families should balance these strengths against operational areas that have produced frequent dissatisfaction—particularly billing/insurance coordination, staffing consistency, safety protocols, and family communication—and ask targeted questions at a tour about current staffing levels, safety practices, billing procedures, and how concerns are escalated and resolved.

About Jerome Home & Arbor Rose

Jerome Home & Arbor Rose is a senior living community that's been around since 1932 and offers care for older adults in a central location, where different buildings and areas like Arbor Rose, The Gardens Memory Care Neighborhood, and The Attwood Residence each have their own names and purposes, so folks can get what they need without feeling overwhelmed. The place has independent living for seniors who want more freedom, assisted living services available around the clock, memory care support for those with dementia or Alzheimer's, and skilled nursing and short-term rehab for those who need medical help or are recovering from illness or injury, and everything is tailored to what each person needs, with plans made specially for every resident. People can choose from studio, companion studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, each with private bathrooms and kitchenettes, and the community is built to be accessible for people who use wheelchairs or need a little more physical support. The care team gives medication and wellness services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and there are always trained staff around in memory care, where people get help in a safe, less restrictive setting and have emergency pendants, a WanderGuard system to keep them safe, and security cameras in all shared spaces for peace of mind. Meals are cooked fresh daily and served in a dining room open from 7 am to 7 pm, and there are plenty of choices, social hours, and cooking groups, plus people don't have to worry about laundry or housekeeping because that's handled by the staff. There are gardens and walking paths, a GoodLife fitness gym, a brain gym for keeping sharp, game rooms, a country kitchen, a library, a hair salon, and clinics for foot, eye, and dental care right on site. Transportation and parking are available, so residents can get where they need to go, and social events, volunteer projects, and even music therapy and personalized music programs with iPods help folks stay engaged and feel at home. Therapy services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy provided by in-house professionals, are available, with specialized rehab programs for things like stroke or heart problems, and staff also help with case management, pain and nutrition, and planning for when it's time to move home from the hospital. Arbor Rose offers independent living for active seniors, but also has a full assisted living program with dignified, personalized care, and the Gardens provide dedicated memory care. The Attwood Residence offers a home-like setting for residential care, and the whole place is run as a not-for-profit, accepting various insurance plans for rehab and private pay, all with the goal to let people keep their independence as much as possible while still getting the help they need, with family support groups to help caregivers too. The focus is always on wellness, safety, privacy, and giving people the chance to have a full life for as long as possible, with programs that bring people together and a staff that's been trained to offer care with respect and kindness.
