    Beautiful quiet safe 55-plus community

I give this place 5/5. My parents love living here - a beautiful, quiet 55+ gated community that's safe, clean, and exceptionally well run with lovely landscaping and well-maintained homes. Staff and residents are friendly, owners are actively involved, and there are plenty of activities (pool, bingo, cards, walking paths, craft fairs), on-site meals and yard care, plus convenient proximity to shopping, restaurants, a health-food/herb store, lakes and golf. Highly recommended.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Multiple reviewers describe Colonnades as a well-maintained, safe, and attractive 55+ community with friendly and helpful staff, engaged ownership, and high resident satisfaction (including long-term residents giving 5-star impressions). The setting and landscaping are repeatedly praised, and reviewers emphasize that parents and residents 'love it there' and find it a wonderful, quiet place to live.

Facilities and location are consistent strengths. The community is gated and described as nicely planned with walking paths, a pool, fishing lakes nearby, and proximity to a golf course. Residents appreciate the convenient location — close to family, shopping, restaurants, and specialty stores (health food and herb/vitamin shops are within walking distance). Yard maintenance is provided, homes and common areas are clean and well-kept, and the overall appearance of landscaping and property upkeep receives specific compliments.

Social life and activities are another clear positive. The community offers organized activities such as bingo, card games, craft fairs, and many social gatherings; reviewers repeatedly call it an active community with lots to do. On-site meals are noted as an amenity, and the presence of regular events contributes to an engaged 55+ population. Reviewers characterize fellow residents as friendly and describe a welcoming, social atmosphere.

Management and staff receive predominantly favorable comments: reviewers cite helpful, friendly staff and actively involved owners who run the community well. That said, there are isolated concerns to note. Several reviewers mention gate access as a pain point — comments include difficulty or delays getting the gate opened and having to search for a person to admit guests or vendors. One review mentions unfriendly staff, indicating that while most staff impressions are positive, there may be occasional lapses in service or interpersonal interactions.

In summary, Colonnades appears to be a high-rated, well-run 55+ community with strong curb appeal, a wide range of amenities, active social programming, and a convenient location. The primary recurring concern is gate access logistics, which some residents find inconvenient; a small number of comments also reference staff unfriendliness. Overall, the reviews paint a picture of a safe, attractive, and active retirement community with engaged management and high resident satisfaction, with a few operational areas that could be improved (notably gate entry procedures and consistency of staff interactions).
