    Warm, professional dementia care community

I placed my dad with Alzheimer's here and it made a huge difference - a warm, home-like community with genuinely caring, attentive staff (special praise for Lesley Wasson). The facility is clean and recently updated, with delicious food, engaging activities (bingo, cards, music, garden/animal time), helpful services like laundry and outings, and a convenient location. I'm very satisfied and would recommend this friendly, professional community to others.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews paint The Meadows at Cypress Gardens as a well-maintained, recently updated community with a consistently warm, home-like atmosphere and a strong emphasis on individualized attention. Cleanliness, attractive grounds, and ongoing facility enhancements are recurring positives. Leadership and front-line staff receive frequent praise for warmth, responsiveness, and a personal approach to resident care.

Care and staff: The workforce is described as compassionate and attentive, with families and visitors noting staff members who add a personal touch and strive to go above and beyond routine duties. Management is characterized as responsive to concerns and focused on health and safety; the marketing/administrative presence contributes to a family-like tone. That said, a pattern of limited visible staffing in public areas during visits was noted by some, which may affect perceptions of day-to-day staffing levels even where staff are described as caring and professional.

Dining and activities: Dining receives largely positive comments, including descriptors such as delicious and superb. Activity programming appears broad and resident-oriented, with examples including bingo, cards, music, drives to off-site entertainment, gardening, and small-group social options. These offerings support engagement for many residents; however, reviewers looking for a very active, densely social environment sometimes found common areas quieter than expected.

Facilities and apartments: The property is frequently described as beautiful, clean, and recently renovated, with updated décor and well-kept interiors. Grounds and outdoor features are appreciated. Apartment arrangements allow residents to bring their own furniture, supporting personalization. Unit sizes were described variably — while some reviews describe spacious layouts, others describe small or compact apartments, suggesting variability by unit type.

Management and value: Management and the administrative team are repeatedly praised for accessibility and compassion, and responsiveness to family concerns is a common theme. Perceptions of value vary: several reviewers viewed the pricing as higher-end with many services offered a la carte, while others considered pricing reasonable. Prospective residents should clarify which services are included in base fees and which incur additional charges.

Notable patterns and considerations: The community tends to attract positive remarks for its staff culture, cleanliness, and physical upkeep. Potential enrollees should verify staffing patterns during different times of day to assess staff visibility and responsiveness, confirm unit sizes and layout options that meet their needs, and review the fee structure to understand what is included. Families of residents with significant cognitive impairment or who require high levels of autonomy may want to discuss individualized care plans and the community’s approach to resident freedom and engagement during the transition period.

About The Meadows at Cypress Gardens

The Meadows At Cypress Gardens opened in January 2014 as a limited liability company, and folks have called it a homey place, with both private suites and studios for seniors who need different kinds of care like assisted living, memory care, independent living, skilled nursing, and even options for short-term or in-home services like hospice and home health care if that ever becomes necessary down the road, and they've got a wing just for folks living with dementia, where the rooms feel more like bedrooms from one's own house, complete with beds, dressers, and closets that can hold plenty of familiar things. You get restaurant-style dining with three meals a day, and staff are there around the clock, including a part-time nurse, health aides, and a team that covers everything from housekeeping to maintenance and even food service, and Lois Mc Closkey runs things as the administrator, keeping things humming along. There's a strong sense of community with lots to do, like bingo, card games, checkers out in the garden, and regular trips to places like local shows or even the beach, while back at home you can walk the paths, sit on the water-facing patios under striped umbrellas, or spend time with birds and cats near Lake Dexter, because they've set up the outdoor space to feel open and full of life. Folks can use the beauty shop for hair styling, stop by a library or movie theater, or join in arts and crafts and exercise groups in the activity rooms, and if someone wants to bring furniture from home, that's perfectly fine, so living quarters feel personal. For health needs, they offer physical and occupational therapy, therapeutic massage, and licensed nursing anytime, and there's transportation for appointments or errands. Even though they don't have BBB accreditation, they keep in touch with the Central Florida office, and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration watches over them with a license number 7713. Family members say the place feels welcoming, and folks can book a tour, maybe meet other residents, and see how the balance of care, engaging activities, and a safe, comfortable environment help people make the most of each day.
