    Caring staff, great activities, clean

I'm very pleased with the caring, professional staff and warm, family-like atmosphere - my dad is joyful and well cared for. The activities program is outstanding (daily events, outings and live entertainment), meals are good, and the facility is clean with nice amenities like a salon, library and screened porches. Staff are responsive, maintenance is excellent, and regular photo updates keep us connected, so I happily recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Gardens of Westbrooke presents a mixed but fairly consistent profile: its physical campus and activity programming are clear strengths, while operational and management areas show notable variability. The facility layout (single-floor design, hall-based activity spaces, screened porches, sunrooms, attractive grounds) and amenities (indoor pool, salon, library, game rooms, on-site dining and snack bar) are repeatedly highlighted as comfortable and convenient for residents. Many reviewers describe a warm, family-like atmosphere and long-term residents who are satisfied with community life.

Staff and care receive polarized feedback. A substantial number of comments praise friendly, caring aides, an engaged activities department, and responsive maintenance and kitchen staff; several families noted a weekly nurse practitioner visit and staff who go above and beyond. Conversely, other comments indicate operational weaknesses: inconsistent medication administration, delayed responses to call bells (especially overnight), and variability in nursing responsiveness. There are also documented concerns about supervision levels for residents with cognitive impairment — an operational gap that may affect placement suitability for people needing higher memory support.

Dining and activities are overall strong points. Many reviewers commend restaurant-style dining, menu variety, pleasant cafeteria spaces, and frequent social events (bingo, games, ice cream socials, live music) plus regular outings. The activities department is frequently described as energetic and personalized. A minority of reviewers raised issues about meal access or service inconsistency; these comments suggest variability rather than a uniform problem.

Facility condition is mixed: the exterior, grounds, and some common areas are described as attractive and well-kept, while several accounts indicate dated interiors, small studio sizes, and ongoing renovation work. Cleanliness and sanitation controls are inconsistent across reports, with some mentions of odors and pest-control concerns in certain areas. Maintenance staff are otherwise noted positively for responsiveness and workmanship.

Management and communication show a wide range of experiences. Many families find administration approachable and helpful, but a distinct set of serious complaints point to opaque billing practices, insurance-change issues, slow or unclear communication about charges, and weaknesses in complaint resolution. There are also allegations of financial misconduct and instances where families felt internal investigations were not handled transparently; these items suggest stakeholders should seek clear written policies and documentation during any placement decision.

In summary, Gardens of Westbrooke may be a good fit for prospective residents who prioritize active programming, a compact and amenity-rich campus, and a family-like community at a competitive price point. Prospective residents and families should carefully evaluate clinical needs (particularly medication management and memory-support supervision), ask for written protocols on staffing and response times, review recent sanitation/pest-control logs, and obtain a clear explanation of billing and insurance practices before committing. For families whose top priorities are robust, consistent clinical oversight and highly transparent administrative practices, further due diligence and direct questioning of management are advisable.

    About Gardens of Westbrooke

Gardens of Westbrooke stays open 24 hours a day and takes all Medicaid providers, so folks who need different kinds of help can get it any time. The place can support up to 135 people, with 115 beds for assisted living and a special, secure 20-bed memory care unit just for women who need extra support due to memory loss. The facility goes by its own unique names for services and programs, which is something people tend to notice about their approach. Gardens of Westbrooke offers a mix of care, including independent living, assisted living, nursing and rehab, adult day care, memory care, and even home health services, with a home care agency on-site, which provides options for different needs and lets folks stay where they're comfortable as their needs change.

There's nursing staff around the clock looking after residents' health, plus a management team that includes an Executive Director and a Culinary Director who help keep things running smoothly. The staff supports dignity and kindness, with folks ready to help with daily activities, medication (with a doctor's order), and apartment upkeep. Care services get adjusted to each resident, so everything stays personal.

The building has a big, bright lobby with wood-style floors, a cinema room for movie nights, and several common areas filled with sunlight and comfortable chairs where people gather. Rooms come in different setups, either private with one bed, recliner, TV, and dresser, or companion rooms set up for sharing. All bathrooms have walk-in showers and grab bars for safety. There's a beauty salon on-site for hair and grooming. If folks like to garden or eat outside, they can use the raised gardening beds, sit in the screened-in porch with wicker furniture, or spend time in the gazebo and garden walks. Residents can invite friends or family for guest meals, use the private dining room, or enjoy restaurant-style meals-with room service and diets like low sodium or no sugar available. Housekeeping, laundry, dry-cleaning, and even grocery shopping services are provided to help keep things easy.

Gardens of Westbrooke has a full activities schedule overseen by an Activities Director. Residents can join field trips, birthday parties, arts and crafts, educational programs, or simple fun like balloon toss or nail and spa days. There are community spaces like a library, computer room, arts and crafts center, and TV lounge, plus free Wi-Fi for everyone. The complex offers worship services for different faiths and has chaplains who visit.

Residents over 55 can live here, whether on their own or sharing with a companion. Gardens of Westbrooke focuses on keeping life comfortable and warm, with staff working to support independence and help with tasks, but also give people the freedom to spend time with loved ones or do things they enjoy. With 24-hour staffing, specialized memory care, respite and hospice care, and both paid and free transportation, there's a focus on meeting individual needs and providing safety. The staff tries their best to make the place feel like a home away from home, helping each person feel cared for and respected.
