    Summary of reviews

Reviewers provide a mixed but clear picture of Joe-Anne Burgin Health & Rehabilitation. Many reviewers emphasize the facilityโ€™s strengths: staff are frequently described as friendly, professional, and caring, with nurses and CNAs noted for attentive interactions. The building and common areas are repeatedly described as clean, well maintained, and warm โ€” reviewers used phrases such as "home-like atmosphere," "beautiful facility," and "welcoming." Employee morale and workplace culture also receive positive comments, suggesting staff retention and local pride in resident care.

Care quality is generally portrayed positively in many accounts, particularly with respect to daily assistance and personal interactions. At the same time, there are serious outlier concerns that prospective families should explore. Some reviews describe delayed responses to resident calls and issues with monitoring, and a review raised significant concerns about clinical oversight after surgery and during an infection-control event. One review described an incident that escalated to law-enforcement involvement; this pattern points to potential gaps in incident response, communication with physicians and families, and formal accountability processes.

Facilities and programming earn consistent praise. Reviewers mentioned an engaging activity program (including a spin class and dedicated instructors), a safe-feeling environment, and a warm reception in common areas. There is limited direct commentary on dining quality in the available summaries; that area did not receive substantial mention, so prospective visitors should request sample menus and meal-service schedules during a tour.

Management and administration present a mixed picture. Several comments indicate a positive internal work environment, but other feedback flags administrative disorganization in the front office and concerns about staff-discipline practices, including questions about how personnel issues are handled and how rehiring or accountability decisions are made. Infection-control practices, monitoring of residentsโ€™ call systems, and communication pathways to physicians and families are recurring themes where additional documentation and on-site inquiry are advisable.

Recommendation: many reviewers found the facilityโ€™s daily care, staff attitude, and environment to be strengths, while a smaller set of serious concerns suggests the need for targeted questions during a visit. Prospective residents and families should tour the unit, observe staffโ€“resident interactions, ask about call-bell response times and monitoring protocols, review post-operative and infection-control policies, request examples of recent incident-response and staff-discipline procedures, and speak with current families or ombudsmen to clarify consistency of care and administrative practices.

About Joe-Anne Burgin Health & Rehabilitation

Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home is a medium-sized, nonprofit facility that offers both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care services. With a capacity of 80 beds, it provides a range of support for residents who require assistance with medical and daily needs. The home accepts both Medicare and Medicaid, making it accessible to a broad group of individuals who need nursing care after a hospital stay or ongoing care due to chronic conditions. Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home is designed to accommodate those who do not require the broader spectrum of a continuing care retirement community but do need focused skilled nursing services.

The nursing home emphasizes maintaining the health and well-being of residents, reflected in its average ratings for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. The care team provides an average of three hours and forty minutes of nurse staffing per resident each day, supporting residents with medication, personal care, and other activities of daily living. A significant portion of residents, over half, are able to return to their homes after a short-term stay, showcasing the facility's commitment to rehabilitation and recovery. The nursing home's focus on preventive care is demonstrated by its record of providing annual influenza vaccinations to all residents.

Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home pays close attention to safety and health protocols, highlighted by past state inspection results. Nevertheless, some inspections have noted the need for improvement in areas such as individualized treatment and care, pressure ulcer prevention, ensuring access to dental care, and upholding high standards in food sourcing and preparation. Staff respond to these challenges and continue to strive for the best possible outcomes for each resident by addressing issues identified in inspections and maintaining a safe living environment in accordance with established standards.

Throughout daily operations, residents are supported in maintaining as much independence as possible. Over three-quarters retain the ability to perform common activities without assistance, and those needing more support receive careful attention from the staff. The facility experiences a relatively low rate of falls resulting in major injury and keeps a close watch on infections or other conditions that could lead to hospitalization. Persistent staffing and a caring approach create a stable environment, although weekend staffing consistency is an area for further development. Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home remains dedicated to providing compassionate care and a secure home-like setting for its residents, helping them achieve the best possible quality of life.
