    Small homey community, caring staff

I toured and chose this small, homey community for my mom and I'm very pleased. The owner is hands-on, billing is simple with no hidden add-ons, and the staff are caring, responsive, and professional (LPN/RN and doctor visits available). Meals are fresh and tasty, activities are plentiful and personalized, and the place is clean, safe and welcoming - great value for the area. I'd recommend it to families seeking compassionate, attentive care.

    Summary of reviews

The Oaks at Fairmount PCH is frequently described as a small, owner-operated community with a strong home-like character. Many families emphasize the visible involvement of ownership and management, noting personalized attention during admissions, thorough facility tours, and introductions to staff. Reviewers commonly describe the overall atmosphere as warm and welcoming, with seasonal décor, communal porches and outdoor time, and a generally clean and orderly presentation in common areas.

Care and staffing receive mixed but largely positive commentary. Numerous accounts praise compassionate, attentive caregivers and availability of licensed clinical staff (LPN/RN) and physician visits. Several families highlighted thoughtful end-of-life support and emotionally supportive interactions. At the same time, there are operational concerns about staffing consistency—particularly overnight coverage—and occasions of delayed response to resident needs or family communications. Prospective families should verify current staffing ratios and typical coverage patterns during a visit.

Dining and activities are often cited as strengths. Meals are described as freshly prepared, appealing, and offered at reasonable cost; snacks and special menus are mentioned positively. The activity program includes group and personalized options (Wii bowling, music programs, church outings), and staff appear willing to arrange individualized engagement. However, some reviewers reported limited entrée choices and noted that diabetic-specific meal accommodations could be improved. Activity consistency can also be affected by resident health levels and staffing availability.

Facilities and maintenance feedback is mixed. Many reviewers found the community clean, well-decorated, and pleasant, with private and two-person rooms available. At the same time, multiple reviews flagged maintenance and safety issues such as deteriorating floor surfaces and temporary fixes that raise safety questions. The building’s converted-home layout contributes to a cozy feel but also limits private-space size and amenity breadth; some rooms are small and some bathrooms are shared.

Management and administration are described positively in terms of owner engagement and family-centered focus, with several accounts of owners going beyond expectations to assist families. Conversely, there are reports of administrative reliability issues—most notably problems with room assignment and move-in coordination—and instances of inconsistent front-desk professionalism and post-incident communication. Given this mix, families considering the Oaks should tour in person, ask for current staffing and maintenance plans, review sample menus (including diabetic options), and confirm admission logistics and communication protocols before committing.
