    Compassionate memory care with issues

I feel very confident in the loving, professional caregivers here - the facility is clean, bright and home-like, memory care is well run, and activities (craft room, outings, salon) keep residents engaged. Amanda and the staff truly go above and beyond and residents are treated with dignity and respect. My only concerns are occasional disorganization, frequent management turnover, spotty staff-family communication, and maintenance/supply hiccups. Overall, a compassionate, well-kept place that offers strong care despite some operational issues.

    About The Landings of Gainesville

The Landings of Gainesville sits among the rolling hills of Northeast Georgia with nice mountain views on a nine-acre campus, and you'll find a community that offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care all in one place, which means if someone starts out living there and their needs change, they don't have to move away, since they can get more help right where they are, and that can be a comfort to families, too, knowing loved ones don't have to move from place to place just because their care needs grow. The place has a variety of apartments-there are studios, some one-bedroom options, and some can be private or semi-private, with little features like walk-in closets, emergency call systems, and internet, and while pets aren't allowed, visitors will find guest parking, Wi-Fi, and rooms with cable TV, and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor space with gardens, gathering spots, and walking trails for those who want to get some fresh air or enjoy a nice day outside.

The staff give help with daily needs, like grooming, toileting reminders, and transfers, whether someone only needs a little bit of help standing up or sometimes has to use a mechanical lift, and if someone deals with incontinence or diabetes, the staff are trained to help with the bathroom and even with insulin shots-except they can't do sliding scale insulin. Safety is a big focus, with 24-hour staff on duty, a nurse who's there all the time, and a doctor on call if something comes up, and the memory care part of the community is in its own secured building, with technology and bracelets to keep people with Alzheimer's or dementia from wandering, even having alarms if someone tries to exit where they shouldn't, so families can worry less about loved ones getting lost. The team there has experience handling more serious issues, too, like behavioral concerns in memory care, and the building's design helps reduce confusion.

Meals are included daily, served in a restaurant-style dining room, with extra effort put into things like low-sodium, low-sugar, and vegetarian choices, and there are guest meals if someone wants to bring company for lunch or dinner, plus healthy snacks in between. Housekeeping, laundry, and linen service come as part of the care, and there's an on-site pharmacy, psychiatric care, and regular health check-ups with updates to make sure everyone stays as healthy as possible, and if you need help getting to appointments or errands, there's scheduled transportation, and options both free and for a fee, with resident parking if you have your own car.

Activities happen every day, so there's always something to do, whether it's arts and crafts, music, games like Wii Bowling, gardening, devotional services, or even outings into the community, and the wellness programs include stretching, yoga, chair yoga, and Tai Chi, plus there are clubs, library activities, education programs, and chances for residents to participate even if their mobility is limited. Beautician services are available for those who want a haircut or style without having to leave, and staff are warm and helpful, focusing on getting to know the residents and making things comfortable, since a lot of the amenities are designed to feel a bit like home.

The Landings of Gainesville charges a community fee, and actual prices vary for each room type or care level, and they do take respite stays if someone just needs short-term care, plus they offer all-inclusive rental options and can help walk families through the costs. The community operates under Oxton Senior Living and Limestone Assisted Living LLC, and it serves adults over a certain age, who want maintenance-free living, and those who want to be as active, social, or independent as they choose. People interested in seeing the place can schedule a tour to get a feel for the surroundings, meet the staff, and see if it's the right fit for their needs.
