    Phenomenal therapy and compassionate staff

I had a very positive rehab stay - the therapy team (Brande, Wendy, Heidi, Morgan/Morgan Jones) was phenomenal and helped me regain strength and independence, and Asher the therapy dog and Maddie's activities made recovery fun. Nurses, CNAs, admin and office staff (Andrea Payne helped with Medicaid) treated me with compassion, respect, and a real sense of family. Dedicated, attentive care all around; I'd recommend this facility for rehabilitation - overall excellent care with just a few minor quibbles.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Harborview Jesup presents a mixed but discernible profile. Strengths center on an accomplished rehabilitation program and a clinical staff that many families describe as compassionate and relational. The facility offers a variety of recreational and holiday-oriented activities led by a committed activities director, and several clinical team members and support personnel are singled out for positive, goal-directed care. At the same time, reviewers have described operational and leadership weaknesses that suggest uneven performance across administrative functions and certain care oversight areas.

Care and therapy: The facility's therapy department is a consistent strong point. Reviewers praise licensed therapists, goal-focused therapy plans, and therapists who support both physical recovery and emotional well-being; the presence of a therapy dog was also noted as a morale-boosting element. Many accounts emphasize that physical therapy helped residents regain strength and return home. Nursing and CNA staff are frequently described as attentive and respectful, contributing to a family-like atmosphere and individualized attention during rehabilitation stays.

Staff and culture: Positive accounts emphasize compassionate, respectful interactions and staff who treat residents like family. Specific frontline staff and therapy-team members receive repeated praise for diligence and encouragement. However, there are recurring concerns about leadership and communication tone: families and some employees describe inconsistent administrative professionalism, occasional disrespectful communication, and variability in how different shifts perform. These cultural and leadership inconsistencies appear to affect staff morale and the family experience in some cases.

Dining and facilities: Several reviewers commented that the facility is pleasant and that meals are satisfactory, contributing to a "home away from home" feeling for residents. Activities programming โ€” including creative events, holiday programming, and opportunities for social engagement โ€” were highlighted as strengths that support quality of life during stays.

Management, responsiveness, and safety: Administrative performance is mixed in the reviews. Some families describe helpful front-office staff and personnel who assisted with Medicaid and financial navigation; others describe long hold times, unresponsive phone lines, and customer-service challenges that complicate family communication. More seriously, at least one allegation of dangerous staff behavior was raised and accompanied by calls for regulatory review. That item, together with comments about uneven oversight, suggests gaps in safety oversight and incident-prevention procedures that warrant attention from leadership and regulators.

Notable patterns and takeaways: The most consistent positive pattern is strong, goal-oriented therapy and many compassionate frontline caregivers. The most consistent negatives are operational: uneven administrative leadership, communication and responsiveness gaps, and concerns about safety oversight. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility's strong rehabilitative capabilities and active programming against reported variability in administrative responsiveness and the need to clarify safety and oversight processes before admission. Asking specific questions about staffing ratios, incident-reporting procedures, and communication expectations can help families assess fit and set expectations.
