    Excellent rehab stay, compassionate staff

I had a very positive rehab stay at Pruitt Savannah. The therapy team (PT/OT/ST and aqua-therapy in the therapy pool) helped me regain strength and confidence to return home. My large, spotless private room with walk-in shower, great views and helpful amenities (mini-fridge, recliner, big TV) felt comfortable and safe. Staff were compassionate, attentive, and communicative with family, and the activities and meal choices kept residents engaged. I would recommend this facility for short- or long-term care.

    Summary of reviews

PruittHealth - Savannah elicits strongly mixed impressions. A consistent positive theme is the facilityโ€™s rehabilitation program: physical, occupational and speech therapy โ€” including aquatic therapy โ€” receive repeated praise for measurable functional gains and successful discharges home. Many families and residents also note attractive, recently renovated spaces and large private rooms with useful amenities, creating a comfortable, home-like environment in parts of the campus.

Direct-care staff impressions are polarized. Numerous comments describe compassionate, professional nurses, aides and therapists who go above and beyond and build close relationships with residents. At the same time, there is frequent commentary about inconsistent nursing and CNA performance, with delays in responding to calls and uneven follow-through on routine care tasks. Reviewers characterize this variability as a staffing and workforce issue: chronic understaffing, staff burnout, and high turnover appear to be underlying drivers of many negative experiences.

Clinical and safety patterns raise specific concerns. Therapy and rehabilitation are strengths, but several operational gaps were described related to medication administration, monitoring and fall-prevention practices. Families also noted long wait times for assistance, inconsistent bathing and personal-care schedules, and variable weekend clinical coverage. These patterns suggest that clinical oversight and staffing levels at certain times of day may not consistently meet resident needs.

Dining, activities and daily living services are similarly mixed. Some residents find meals nutritious, appreciate choices and enjoy activity programming that keeps them engaged. Others describe cold or limited meal options, weight-loss concerns, and inconsistent participation in scheduled activities or outdoor time. Activity staff and therapy teams are often credited with motivating residents, but inconsistent staffing can limit program delivery.

Facility condition and operational management show a split between newer and older areas. The renovated wings and common areas are frequently described as bright, clean and well-appointed; several reviewers contrast that with older sections where sanitation concerns, odor issues and dated spaces are noted. Housekeeping and laundry processes are praised when functioning well, yet inventory control and accountability for personal belongings are recurring issues, with allegations of lost or missing items.

Communication and administration receive mixed evaluations. Some administrators and admissions staff are singled out as responsive and helpful, and therapy/intake staff are frequently commended. However, many families describe poor follow-through from management, difficulty reaching staff by phone, ineffective voicemail systems, and problems with billing or insurance coordination. There are also serious, singular allegations โ€” including theft and financial misconduct โ€” that families have raised; these warrant direct inquiry during any evaluation and may require review by oversight entities.

Overall pattern and guidance for families: the facility offers strong rehabilitative services and attractive accommodations in newer units, and many residents experience compassionate care from individual staff members. At the same time, persistent staffing constraints and operational inconsistencies create variability in nursing care, timely response, sanitation in some areas, meal quality and administrative responsiveness. Prospective residents and families should consider an in-person tour at different times of day (including weekends), ask about staffing ratios and nurse-call system reliability, review policies for belongings and billing, and speak directly with therapy leadership and the on-site administrator about clinical oversight and care plans before placement.

    About PruittHealth - Savannah

PruittHealth - Savannah sits at 12825 White Bluff Road in Savannah, Georgia, and has been managed by PruittHealth Inc since September 2007. The facility has 140 certified beds and usually sees about 123 residents each day. All the rooms are private, which gives folks more comfort and privacy. There's an outdoor courtyard, and spaces made to help people relax and enjoy a bit of sunshine, along with social and recreational activities for those who want to stay active and connected. The community offers a wide scope of care, including skilled nursing, short-term and long-term rehabilitation, memory care for people with cognitive challenges, palliative care, and hospice support. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy are available, and there's even a kitchen that helps residents practice being more independent.

Staff tailor care plans to fit each person's needs and use modern technology to help with recovery and rehab, but staffing levels come in a bit under the state average at 3.44 nurse hours per resident per day. The nurse turnover rate is just a little better than the state average, sitting at 48.3%. Like many nursing homes, inspection reports over time have recorded a total of 33 deficiencies at this facility, including three related to infection control, such as one citation for not meeting federal infection prevention standards. There have also been citations for nutrition standards and other health and safety requirements.

The team is described as attentive and compassionate, aiming to create a cozy setting, and the community puts a clear focus on both comfort and peace of mind for residents and their families. Over the last 50 years, PruittHealth has built a continuum of care from rehabilitation through hospice, with extra services like Home First, therapy services, infusion therapy, pharmacy, and medical supplies available. While the community's focus is on high-quality, patient-centered care and doing their best to keep people out of the hospital, they also try to keep family members updated and informed on each person's treatment and progress. Direct ownership mainly belongs to United Health Services Of Georgia Inc, with smaller stakes held by family trusts like J Paige Pruitt Trust and Neil L Pruitt Jr Trust. All in all, PruittHealth - Savannah tries to offer a comfortable, supportive environment, and while not without its challenges, it stays recognized as a trusted provider in the Savannah area, dedicated to the well-being of its residents.
