    Attentive staff and resort-like care

My mom has lived here and I'm very pleased. The nurses, aides and on-site doctors were attentive, staff knew residents' names and welcomed visits, and the Bistro served restaurant-quality, delicious meals. The building is immaculate, warm and resort-like with great activities, therapy services and meeting spaces that helped her become active and comfortable. Communication, safety protocols and the full continuum of care gave us real peace of mind - I'd recommend it to others.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Terraces of Boise elicits strongly mixed assessments. Many reviewers describe a modern, well-appointed community with excellent dining, engaging activities, and attentive nursing care; at the same time a consistent cluster of operational concerns appears around staffing reliability, clinical oversight, and management communication. Prospective residents and family members are likely to encounter both high-quality hospitality and intermittent service gaps depending on timing and department.

Care and clinical oversight: Reviewers frequently praise nurses and CNAs for compassionate bedside care and report available on-site clinicians and therapy services that can support rehabilitation and ongoing medical needs. However, a pattern of clinical-process weaknesses is also present: reviewers described delayed responses to call buttons, inconsistent personal-care schedules (including bathing), and specific instances that indicate gaps in medication-management and clinical oversight. These accounts suggest variable performance in clinical coordination and point to the need for prospective families to inquire about staffing ratios, medication administration protocols, and oversight procedures.

Staff and communication: Staff friendliness and a welcoming front desk are commonly highlighted, and many reviewers note staff who go out of their way to engage residents. At the same time, there are recurring comments about staffing turnover and uneven service quality between departments. Communication problems appear repeatedly: families reported delays or poor communication about moves, billing, and clinical incidents, and at least one management change was linked to concerns about price increases and service adjustments. Those considering the community should request written communication policies, escalation contacts, and clarity on financial disclosures prior to move-in.

Dining and activities: Dining is a clear strength — food quality, portion sizes, and a nutritionist-supported approach receive repeated praise. On-site bistro/deli options and a variety of menus create a resort-like dining experience for many residents. Activity programming is broad and engaging, ranging from quilting and bingo to kayaking and organized social events; reviewers commonly describe an active, social resident community. Therapy offerings (physical and speech therapy) are available, though some families noted waits to access specific ancillary services.

Facilities and amenities: The property is consistently described as new, clean, and well-finished, with spacious private apartments and pleasant outdoor grounds. The continuum of care on a single campus is viewed positively for families seeking options from independent living through skilled nursing and memory care. On the other hand, a few accounts describe problematic handling of maintenance incidents (flooding, construction), including temporary relocations and dissatisfaction with how those events were communicated and managed.

Management and financial considerations: Several reviewers expressed concerns about management-driven price increases, reduced services after organizational changes, and unclear buy-in or refund processes. Billing and Medicare-coverage confusion were raised in some accounts. These patterns point to the importance of reviewing contracts, asking for full disclosure of fees and refund policies, and clarifying how the community handles billing and insurance coordination.

Notable patterns and takeaways: The Terraces of Boise offers strong hospitality, excellent dining, attractive facilities, and robust programming for many residents. At the same time, recurring operational themes — staffing inconsistency, delays in call response, medication-management gaps, and communication shortfalls around moves and billing — suggest variability in resident experience. Families touring the community should validate clinical protocols, staffing levels, emergency and maintenance contingency plans, and financial disclosures to align expectations with current operational realities.

    About The Terraces of Boise

The Terraces of Boise sits on 11 well-kept acres at 5301 E. Warm Springs Ave. in Boise, right next to the Boise River Greenbelt and near downtown in the Harris Ranch neighborhood, and you'll find it's a nonprofit Life Plan Community owned by HumanGood, so everything from independent living to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and short-term rehabilitation is all here together, and you don't have to worry if your needs change over time since they're set up for whatever level of care you end up needing, and they've got loft-style, one- or two-bedroom apartments and cottages, each with a kitchen, washer and dryer, walk-in closet, private patio or balcony, where the monthly fee covers almost everything without extra charges popping up. Residents get part-time nursing staff, personal care, medication reminders, and physical, occupational, or speech therapy as needed, and folks with Alzheimer's or dementia can join a memory support program that's very hands-on, helped by specialized staff. Services include meal preparation with balanced, good food, bi-weekly housekeeping, flat linen service, and garden upkeep, and the fitness center, gym, library with a fireplace, club room, hobby shop, rooftop garden terrace, and bistro make it easy to keep busy or relax. There are cultural outings, things like a night at the symphony, organized social and hobby activities, and a regular schedule of fitness classes and wellness programs, and residents can bring their pets and have help getting to appointments or shopping with scheduled transportation. For rehab or skilled nursing, there's around-the-clock nursing, a secure call system, electronic health records, private suites with modern beds and TVs, and rehab gyms for post-surgical care, all in smaller village-style homes built around open kitchens and living spaces. The building's setup is clean, neat, and accessible with Wi-Fi, safety features, and plenty of natural light, and employment and housing is open to people of all backgrounds. Their MyChoice program lets you tailor services if you want, like more or less laundry help or housekeeping, and the staff, from management to aides, has a reputation for being friendly and attentive. You'll see residents enjoying the rooftop garden or chatting over coffee, joining book clubs, living at the pace they choose. The Terraces of Boise aims to help people live independently as long as they can, with a backup plan if care needs increase.
