    About Park Place Christian Community

Park Place Christian Community sits in Elmhurst, IL, and belongs to a group with over 100 years of senior care experience through Providence Life Services, a Christian-based organization. The facility focuses on keeping residents comfortable and lets them "age in place," so whether they're mostly independent or need more help and even memory care or nursing, the different levels of care are all in one place. Park Place's Life Plan Community setup allows seniors to move from independent living to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and even short-stay rehab without needing to switch to a different campus, and many people prefer that stability.

The community has 37 certified skilled nursing beds and sees about 34 residents daily. Staffing is higher than average, with about 4.56 nurse hours per resident per day. Residents get meals planned and cooked by professional chefs, and there are dining rooms with restaurant-style seating, plus special diets supported, and snack options. Independent living apartments come in several layouts, and some have kitchenettes, private bathrooms, cable TV, air conditioning, telephones, and Wi-Fi. The whole place feels updated and clean, and it's gotten community reviews, including an 8.0 rating from 21 reviews, along with awards for senior living.

Residents can use indoor common spaces, a well-stocked library, fitness areas, arts and crafts rooms, a game room, and outdoor areas like walking paths and gardens, which are often important if folks still like to get outside. Regular activities include exercise programs, arts events, movie nights, and faith-based devotional services, along with resident-run programs and community parties. Family support services, help with chores like laundry or cleaning, move-in coordination, and private transportation are also part of the daily routine. Medical services cover medication management, diabetes care, incontinence, non-ambulatory care, and even rehabilitation, plus pharmacy support, a health and wellness center, and a 24-hour call system.

However, like many nursing homes, there's a history of some regulatory issues. Past inspections have shown deficiencies in pharmacy services, especially medication management (including psychotropic meds and dose changes), quality of life and safety risks, proper supervision, and infection control. Records show the facility takes care of these issues, and there haven't been any federal fines in the last three years, but it's important for families to ask about these findings when considering a move. Care is managed by staff such as Barry Vandergenugten and Johanna Zandstra, and management's been consistent since 2017. Ownership falls under Rest Haven Illiana Christian Convalescent Home, and although Park Place is for-profit, it states it reinvests in resident care and services.

The facility accepts Medicare and Medicaid and mainly serves short-stay skilled nursing residents, but it also offers assisted living, independent living, and memory care, with community and social programs focused on helping people live as independently as possible. Residents can use private transportation, on-site parking, and a range of resort-style amenities, but the main appeal for many is the ability to remain in the same community as needs change. Regular counseling, wellness programs, and health support round out the care. Park Place Christian Community's mix of comfort, Christian-based care, structured living options, on-site health services, and engaging activities makes it another choice for people who want a familiar setting and don't want to change addresses if their needs get harder with time.
