    Caring staff, delicious food, active

I moved my mom to Cordia and I'm very pleased - the staff are caring and professional, the food is delicious with many dining options, and there's live music, weekly entertainment and exercise classes that keep residents active. Beautiful gardens, clean well-kept apartments and on-site medical support give us peace of mind, and long-tenured staff make the community feel welcoming and safe. My mom made friends quickly and is happily engaged. I'd recommend Cordia to families seeking attentive, active senior living.

    Summary of reviews

Cordia Senior Residence — Westmont presents as a well-appointed, activity-rich assisted/independent living community with numerous amenities and a strong emphasis on social engagement. The property is frequently described as attractive and garden-focused, with hotel-like common areas, a grand piano and fireplace in the lobby, a coffee bar, courtyard features (including a koi pond) and outdoor exercise equipment. Apartment offerings are varied and include units with balconies or patios, in-unit kitchens and washer/dryer options, and notable storage capacity. The community emphasizes aging-in-place and has structures that support assisted living care alongside independent units.

Care and staffing are commonly cited strengths. Reviewers emphasize long-tenured, compassionate staff and responsive maintenance teams, along with a 24/7 call system and medallion alert technology. Several accounts note the presence of a resident nurse or physician and convenient access to medical support. At the same time, there are operational limitations to probe: weekend reliance on temporary staff, reported gaps in on-site therapy services (PT/OT), and variable ability to support higher-acuity in-room care. A small number of accounts describe serious clinical-safety concerns; these raise questions about incident response procedures and family communication and should be investigated directly by prospective families.

Dining and activities are clear selling points. The community offers restaurant-style, chef-prepared meals with a varied menu, private dining options and beverage service; reviewers often praise the food and special-event meals. The activities program is broad and active — examples include live music and weekly performances, sing-alongs, arts and crafts, gardening, therapy animals, fitness classes, bus outings, seasonal BBQs and a lively social calendar. These programs appear to support resident engagement and socialization and are frequently associated with positive resident mood and higher participation.

Facilities and management earn generally positive remarks for responsiveness and presentation, but there is variability. Many families report clean, well-maintained apartments and communal spaces, while others note spotty housekeeping (particularly carpeting) and an unevenness in interior updates between units. Several reviewers found room sizes or layouts smaller than expected despite the upscale finishes elsewhere. Management and admissions staff are described as welcoming and generous with time, but billing practices warrant attention: reviewers note extra fees for higher-intensity in-room care, occasional retroactive billing adjustments, and a perception that cost transparency could improve.

Notable patterns for prospective families to explore during a tour: confirm current staffing ratios and weekend/temporary coverage; ask about on-site therapy availability and the facility’s capacity for higher-acuity in-room care; review emergency and daily-check protocols and how clinical incidents and family communication are handled; clarify all fees, billing practices, and what triggers additional charges; and verify housekeeping and maintenance schedules as well as unit dimensions and finish consistency. Overall, Cordia Westmont is frequently recommended for its community life, dining, and caring staff, but prospective residents and families should verify clinical coverage and financial terms to ensure the community matches their safety and budget expectations.
