    Summary of reviews

Overall impression Reviews of Montebello HealthCare Center present a mixed but largely instructive picture for prospective residents and families. Strengths cluster around the facility's rehabilitative capacity and several aspects of staff performance, while operational limits — most notably staffing levels and room size — recur as central concerns. Cleanliness and staff helpfulness are commonly noted positives; however, there are also comments indicating variability in day-to-day care and capacity pressures.

Care quality Rehabilitation services are consistently described as a strong point: the facility's therapy team receives repeated praise for clinical skill and effectiveness in post-acute recovery. General care quality is less uniform — some accounts describe excellent, attentive care, while others raise concerns about inconsistency. Those patterns suggest reliable specialty therapy programs alongside variability in routine nursing or personal-care delivery during peak activity periods.

Staff and management Staff are frequently characterized as caring, friendly, and accommodating. Social services and billing personnel are identified as knowledgeable and helpful, and individual staff members have been singled out for effective family advocacy. At the same time, multiple references to being short staffed and overwhelmed imply staffing models that struggle during busy shifts; this appears to affect responsiveness and workload rather than the intent or professionalism of staff. Management strengths include accessible social-service support and organized billing; management challenges appear to be around staffing allocation and capacity planning.

Dining and activities Comments about dining are mixed: some reviewers find the food acceptable, while others imply variability in meal quality or satisfaction. There is limited specific information about organized activities in the available comments, though general statements about resident happiness indicate that social and daily-living needs are met for some residents. Prospective families should ask the facility for sample menus and an activity calendar to assess fit.

Facilities and accommodations The building and public spaces are described as clean and well maintained. A recurrent operational concern is room size and crowding: several notes about small or overcrowded rooms indicate limited private space options and potential capacity constraints. The facility does not appear to be notably pet-friendly, which may be important for families seeking pet accommodation.

Notable patterns and recommendations The predominant pattern is a facility with strong rehabilitation services and generally compassionate staff that faces operational strain from staffing shortages and limited room capacity. For families considering Montebello HealthCare Center, recommended next steps include: touring room options to evaluate space, asking for staffing ratios for target units/shifts, reviewing recent quality metrics or inspection reports, and discussing pet policies and dining menus. These targeted inquiries will help determine whether the facility's clinical strengths align with a prospective resident’s daily-care and lifestyle priorities.

    About Montebello HealthCare Center

Montebello HealthCare Center, sometimes called Montebello Healthcare Center, sits in Hamilton and is part of the Sava Senior Care network, where people have said the staff are friendly and kind, always helping residents and visitors. Ms. Tina Batterton serves as the administrator, with Rebecca Bliss also managing, and the community doesn't have BBB accreditation, though it gets solid feedback with an average 7.4 out of 10 rating and has won several awards like Best of Senior Living and Best Activities in Senior Living. Montebello provides nursing home care, independent living for active seniors, assisted living to help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and medication, and has memory care for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, with special attention to reduce confusion and wandering. Residents here have access to long-term and short-term stay options, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation therapies-physical, occupational, and speech-all provided by professional healthcare staff who are available around the clock, offering both 12-16 hour nursing care and 24-hour supervision along with a comprehensive call system for safety and support.

The buildings have community-suite rooms, and each room comes with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, air conditioning, cable TV, phones, and Wi-Fi, so residents can stay connected and comfortable, and the recently renovated interiors now feel much brighter and more welcoming. There are apartment- and condo-style settings, with 24-hour on-site care staff, and a choice of nutritious meals, often prepared restaurant-style by a professional chef, who can handle special diets, such as diabetes or allergies, with one to two meals provided each day. Montebello also runs laundry and housekeeping services, along with transportation and parking options, making daily life easier for residents who may not wish to handle chores.

Residents find plenty to do here, with scheduled social and recreational activities, a movie theater, a game room, a library, a fitness room, an arts room, and paths for walking outdoors in the gardens and common spaces, plus music programs, movie nights, and daily events for companionship. The community offers special support services that can be brought into the facility, like dementia support, palliative care, and even nutritional counseling, so care can adjust as residents' needs change. Housekeeping, laundry service or dry cleaning, meal plans, move-in help, and even a concierge service are all available, and families have planning and advice support too-including connections with A Place For Mom for free guidance.

The neighborhood has local hospitals, stores, banks, markets, and dining options nearby, so residents and families have access to community comforts outside the facility. Montebello accepts both Medicaid and Medicare for healthcare and meal services. There are planned activities for residents to enjoy every day, and renovation work has helped the facility stand out for comfort and ease. While it's not BBB-accredited and sometimes there are gaps in the publicly available information due to a request error, the facility welcomes private tours for anyone who wants to see the environment themselves, and it's recognized for both its skilled care and community atmosphere.
