    Clean friendly affordable active community

I live here and I'm very pleased - brand-new, clean facility with spacious rooms and a warm, home-like layout. The staff (Mary, Jessica and Anita especially) are kind and attentive, rent is reasonable and Medicaid-eligible with services/daily care included, and the busy activity calendar (bingo, trips, holiday events, Casino Day) plus great food make it a wonderful place to call home.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in these reviews is strongly positive with consistent applause for the people, community atmosphere, and the physical environment. Reviewers repeatedly describe Green Oaks of Goshen as a welcoming, warm, and fun place where residents smile, laugh, and participate in regular activities. The staff is the single most frequent strength mentioned: caregivers and activity staff are described as kind, attentive, and like family. Many reviews name specific employees (Mary, Jessica, Anita, Arlene) as standout team members. Employees themselves report high job satisfaction and pride in the community, which correlates with repeated praise from residents and visitors.

The facility's physical attributes receive similar praise. Multiple reviewers note that Green Oaks is brand new or recently updated, with modern yet practical designs, spacious rooms, and a good internal layout. The interior is described as well-designed and home-like; the building is frequently called beautiful and conducive to social interaction. These physical strengths support the active social life noted across reviews — regular activities such as bingo, card games, trips to stores, themed events (Casino Day, luau, Thanksgiving), trick-or-treating, and holiday meals are frequently cited as highlights that meet residents' social needs and create an upbeat atmosphere.

Dining and events are generally well-received, with several positive anecdotes about holiday meals, baked goods, chicken wings, and themed events being a ‘‘huge hit’’. That said, dining receives mixed feedback: while special meals and treats are praised, there are explicit concerns that day-to-day meals can be unhealthy or overly high in carbohydrates. Prospective residents with dietary restrictions or strong nutritional needs should ask specifics about menu planning and accommodations.

Despite many strengths, there are operational and cleanliness concerns that appear repeatedly and should be taken seriously. Several reviews call out medication errors and untimely administrative follow-up, plus an overall sense of unresponsiveness from management in some cases. Those are significant issues because they directly affect resident safety and confidence. Maintenance-related complaints also recur: some maintenance requests are not tended to quickly, and there are isolated but specific cleanliness problems reported (dirty elevators, smelly or dirty bathrooms, and general cleaning lapses). Front-desk behavior is another area flagged by multiple reviewers — a few describe rude reception interactions and suggest the desk staffing could be improved.

Financial and access factors are clear positives: reviewers repeatedly emphasize that the community accepts Medicaid, helps with Medicaid processes, and that rent is reasonable with services included (daily care included, no extra charges for additional services). This combination of affordability and service inclusion is a distinguishing advantage for families seeking cost-conscious options.

In summary, Green Oaks of Goshen presents as a warm, active, and modern community with an evidently caring and engaged staff and an environment that supports social life and enjoyment. The main caveats are operational: medication management, managerial responsiveness, maintenance turnaround, and occasional cleaning/front-desk issues. Prospective residents and families should weigh the strong social/cultural and facility benefits against these operational concerns by asking targeted questions during a tour — for example, inquire about medication administration protocols, incident reporting and follow-up processes, recent housekeeping/inspection records, how maintenance requests are tracked and handled, and typical menu planning and dietary accommodations. Doing so will help determine whether the current strengths align with an individual’s priorities and whether the noted operational weaknesses are being addressed.

    About Green Oaks of Goshen

Green Oaks of Goshen stands as the newest assisted living community in Goshen, opened in 2024 and located on Johnston Street in a modern three-story building with big windows and a wood and stone canopy out front, and if you pull in, there's a circular driveway for easy access. The facility offers 120 private studio and one-bedroom apartments with layouts that include a living room area, kitchenette, and full private bathroom, and each unit has features like mini-blinds, emergency call devices, carpeted living and sleeping spaces, linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom, and closets, while the heat and air conditioning can be controlled by residents. Green Oaks of Goshen provides assisted living, memory care, nursing home services, and independent living options in a place that also accepts the Medicaid Waiver, Housing Choice Voucher, long-term care insurance, and offers tax credit possibilities, working to keep things affordable for seniors. The main goal here is to support adults age 62 and over who want help to keep their independence, and that includes things like three meals a day, laundry, regular housekeeping, and daily support with dressing, grooming, medications, wound care, and bathing, all provided by certified staff around the clock.

The community is managed by Gardant Management Solutions, which puts a high value on treating everyone with compassion and respect, and the staff at Green Oaks of Goshen help residents with walking, wheelchairs, transportation, and personal care needs, always aiming to protect their dignity and independence. The building itself has safety features like a sprinkler system, emergency call buttons, and handrails, while extra amenities include a salon and barbershop, a game and activity room, guest parking, a dining room, fitness center, and Wi-Fi throughout the property, not to mention cable TV, washers and dryers. There are health and wellness programs, educational courses, arts and crafts sessions, social activities, and even a focus on social services and partnerships for nonprofit consulting to connect seniors to more helpful resources. There is memory care for those who need it, and the atmosphere remains bright and open, giving residents a vibrant place to live where they can make friends and stay active. The community has bistro common areas and offers meals in a larger dining room, giving people options to socialize or relax as they like. With apartment safety features, helpful staff, and a variety of activities and services, Green Oaks of Goshen tries to offer a home-like, supportive, and secure atmosphere for residents, whether they need a little help or more regular care. The group behind the property, Evergreen Real Estate Services, manages the development and maintenance and works on keeping housing affordable and high quality for seniors. The community is known for being equal and accessible to all, making sure everyone feels they belong, and for having accreditation for its services, and regularly gets recognition-including being called Goshen's 2024 Best Assisted Living Community-because of how it works to meet the needs of those it serves.
