    Good care but inconsistent staffing

I had an overall positive experience - the tour was excellent, the facility is clean and modern, the staff are warm and caring, and the food/activities (including memory-care outings) are good. That said, I noticed inconsistent staffing, occasional medication/process errors (especially evenings), and slow/unresponsive call-button service, so you really have to stay on top of things. Memory care and short-term respite worked well, but pricing felt high and independent-living options were limited. I'd recommend checking it out in person, but be prepared to advocate for your loved one.

    About American House Hampton Village

American House Hampton Village sits in Rochester Hills, Michigan, right on Rochester Road, north of Hamlin, on the east side, and has been helping seniors since 1979, which is quite a while, and they've got Joyce Neder as their Executive Director and Nicole Shanburn as the Life Enrichment Director, and they offer different types of living for seniors, so you have independent living for folks who don't need help, assisted living when someone needs things like help with bathing, dressing, or keeping up with medicines, and they also have memory care for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, with private, semi-private, and shared bathrooms in those memory care apartments. The place has a lot of features, like studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments with kitchen appliances, and it's easy to find a pet-friendly floor plan if you want to have a pet move in with you, and there are open spaces inside-places with comfortable chairs, fireplaces, built-in bookshelves, a bistro, library, coffee shop, a salon with professional dryers and big mirrors, plus a fitness center with machines so you can keep moving and a game room where you'll find a popcorn machine and places to play tabletop games. People eat in a dining room where a chef and staff serve meals any time between 7 am and 7 pm, or you can use the 24-hour bistro for snacks and drinks, and guests can even join for meals if they visit. There are landscaped gardens and courtyards, raised beds for gardening, a putting green for golf, and outdoor BBQ spots for fresh air dining, while wide sidewalks and a parking lot make it easier for residents or visitors to get around safely. American House Hampton Village offers a busy activities calendar, and every third Wednesday, the community hosts a family evening from 5 to 7 pm so residents and their loved ones can have fun, and every day they have something to do, like arts and crafts, music, movies, outings, golf, and even religion services for those who want them. Memory care residents receive strong support, with 24-hour staff including nurses, med techs, and caregivers who know how to help with memory loss and difficult days, and there's emergency call pendants or pull cords in rooms for safety. Skilled nursing care and therapies like occupational, physical, and rehabilitation services are also available, and the community covers housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and even linen changes, which takes some of the burden off daily chores, and they do offer both private and group transportation for errands and appointments. Payment can be through checks, credit cards, or insurance, and all the basics like utilities and cable TV in common areas and internet in apartments come as part of the deal, plus you can get room service and respite care for short-term stays, such as after a hospital visit. The theater with soft seats and the event rooms for bingo or activities give everyone places to gather, and outside you'll usually see the gardens, trees, and those nice green walking paths. The community's won a SeniorAdvisor.com Best of Senior Living Award before, and its focus stays on giving each person the right help for what they need, with care plans adjusted as residents' needs change over time, and the team at Hampton Village strives for a peaceful, maintenance-free setting with plenty of ways to meet new friends and join in, whether you want to join a game, spend quiet time by the fire, or get a haircut in the salon. Each part of the place, from the boutique-inspired design to the friendly staff and ongoing social programs, reflects an effort to support seniors who want comfort, safety, and a sense of belonging.
