    Warm community with excellent care

I enjoy living at Round Lake - the beautiful, brand-new community has a warm, homestyle vibe. The care team is kind, dedicated, and goes the extra mile, the food is hot and restaurant-quality (excellent coffee), and activities are meaningful and fun. Residents and staff are welcoming and engaged; I'm very pleased and would highly recommend Round Lake.

    Summary of reviews

Round Lake Senior Living offers a visually appealing, brand-new campus with many features families commonly seek: modern interiors, a welcoming front desk, a well-kept dining area, an outdoor loop trail with exercise stations, and a schedule of inclusive activities and frequent social events. Many reviewers praised the warm resident community, active programming, and a smooth move-in experience. Leadership presence and administrative visibility are frequently noted as positive aspects; several families described engaged leaders who are accessible and focused on resident and staff well-being.

Care quality is described in mixed but often positive terms. Numerous comments characterize caregivers as caring and thorough and note that high-need residents received attentive support. At the same time, a persistent theme across reviews is staffing instability: turnover, use of part-time or unfamiliar staff, and periods of understaffing that affect continuity of care. Related concerns include inconsistent staff engagement and occasional issues with staff conduct or placement, which reviewers say can impact day-to-day responsiveness and resident comfort.

Dining is a polarizing area. Many reviewers complimented hot, restaurant-style meals and strong coffee, while others described inconsistent meal quality and limited beverage service practices (including concerns about glass size and access to drinks). Activity programming receives consistent positive mention: the community runs a broad menu of meaningful programs and social events that many residents enjoy, though a few families said some residents need extra encouragement to participate.

Operational and management patterns are mixed. Positive notes about approachable leadership coexist with recurring administrative weaknesses: problems with billing processes, lack of electronic billing delivery, limited follow-up on refund requests, and occasional poor information sharing between nursing staff and families. Accessing third-party services affiliated with the community (LyfeSpark) has been described as complicated, with required literature and procedures hard to locate. Several reviewers raised transparency concerns about rent increases and overall value, with a small number of families deciding to leave the community over cost and communication issues.

Facility design and location are additional considerations. The building is new and clean, but some layouts and public-space elements were described as less mobility-friendly (apartment shapes, elevator/bench placement). The site is also relatively isolated and near a highway, which creates occasional noise and may affect convenience for visitors. Prospective residents and families should weigh the strong physical environment and active social life against patterns of staffing turnover, administrative friction, and potential accessibility constraints. For decision-making, it is advisable to ask the community about current staffing ratios, staff training plans, billing procedures and escalation pathways, hydration and meal-service routines, and ease of accessing third-party services before committing.

    About Round Lake Senior Living

Round Lake Senior Living sits over at 1740 Parkshore Drive in Arden Hills, tucked into a quiet spot but still gives folks a sense of being part of the area, and families are welcome to be involved in helping choose the right care level for their relatives, since the place wants people to feel like decisions are made together, and they keep families in the loop on care plans and day-to-day things so no one feels left out. The building fits right in with the local landscape and offers a real range of living options, from independent apartments folks can fix up to feel like home all the way over to assisted living and full memory care, and they let residents shift from one care level to another as needs change, so there's no need to move every time life brings a new challenge, which is what people call "aging in place," and they even offer respite stays for short-term needs.

There's independent living apartments, some semi-private and some more like cozy studios, all built around easy access to social rooms, quiet community spots, and outdoor areas for sitting, visiting, or getting fresh air. Caregivers and nurses stay close by, ready to help with daily things like bathing and dressing, medication reminders, and meals, and there are folks trained for memory support too, partly through a program called Reflections that's supposed to help people keep their minds active and feel comfortable even if memory problems show up. There's always 24-hour support, call systems, and security features to make sure everyone stays safe, and the memory care wing is made so folks don't get confused or wander off by mistake.

Life here includes regular activities and events to keep things lively, from group exercise to arts, games, religious services, and outings, plus wellness programs and clubs so neighbors can get to know one another. The staff focuses on treating everyone with respect and patience, pitching in whenever needed without being overbearing, and the kitchens put out meals that are both healthy and taste good, making sure no one skips out on the basics. Amenities reflect what modern seniors expect, like internet, Wi-Fi in common spaces, and support for hearing aids or cell phones, plus pet-friendly rooms, and there's rides for errands, too. They provide medical alert systems and safety gadgets for those who want extra peace of mind. For memory care residents, there's a protected unit and special programs to help keep them engaged.

Round Lake Senior Living gives people a way to live on their own or get more help as time goes by, with rates starting at $5,289 a month, and the team works with families to craft care plans based on each person's actual needs, which might include nursing, companion care, or simply keeping up with daily routines. The apartments are easy to move around in, the grounds stay well-kept, and everything's set up to make life comfortable and secure, whether someone needs just a little help or round-the-clock support.
