    About Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington

Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington sits at 10030 Newton Ave S in Bloomington, MN, and is a community that helps seniors age comfortably with many care options that go from independent living all the way to skilled nursing and memory care, so folks don't have to move if their needs change. The place has apartments for people who want to live on their own, some with one or two bedrooms or even a den, and these all have kitchens, private bathrooms with step-in showers and grab bars, in-unit laundry, and the heat and air are easy to control which makes things simple. If someone needs help with day-to-day things, there's assisted living, which covers things like meals, help with getting dressed, bathing, medicines, housekeeping, and they have staff up and awake all night for emergencies. The memory care section here, called The Arbor, keeps people with Alzheimer's or dementia safe in a secure environment and offers activities and programs that help with memory and daily enjoyment, and that section can care for about 18 folks at a time right on the first floor with views of a courtyard and two meals a day included, plus guest meals if family comes by.

The place also takes care of people who need more nursing and daily medical help with 24-hour skilled nursing care, helping with things like wound care, recovery after a hospital stay, diabetes monitoring (though they don't give insulin shots themselves), incontinence, and support moving from bed to wheelchair. Residents can stay here for a short time too if someone needs respite, giving caregivers a break. The community runs on a faith-based, nonprofit model with a Christian foundation, but it welcomes diversity in culture and faith. There are indoor spaces where neighbors can talk or join in group activities, and there are devotional services both on and off site. The on-site full-time activities director helps plan lots of things to do that get people moving or socializing, and there's a movie theater, a library, a wood shop for hands-on folks, a craft room, exercise rooms, a warm water therapy pool, fitness classes, a courtyard, a salon, a business office, a general store, and a swimming pool. If a resident wants to go out or has a doctor's appointment, there's scheduled van transportation that doesn't cost extra, and there's an underground parking garage with spots for cars at $60 a month, plus spots for guests.

All these buildings-named Gideon Pond, The Commons, and The Arbor-make up the campus, and there's a special spot called Newton Manor offering subsidized assisted living apartments. Food is planned out and cooked for folks, so in assisted living two meals a day are cooked and served, and for independent living, residents can pay for meals or cook for themselves. Laundry and linen service is included, and if someone brings a pet, cats and small dogs up to 20 pounds are allowed for a $500 deposit. Staff answer call buttons 24 hours a day for safety. There's home health care, hospice, rehabilitation, and transitional care services, so someone can stay through different stages of health. The place also won Best of Senior Living awards for care and support, and people say the staff here are friendly and helpful. This is a comfortable place for folks ages 55 and up, with rooms of all sizes, storage lockers, Wi-Fi, guest suites, and a culture that takes pride in kindness and good service, making it easier for seniors to stay healthy, safe, and involved in daily life.
