    Compassionate, attentive care in community

I moved my mom here and overall we're very pleased. The staff are consistently compassionate, skilled, and friendly, communication is timely, and the care - including memory care - feels attentive. The grounds and common areas are lovely and clean, with plenty of activities, an on-site salon and chapel, and good dining options. It's a comfortable, community-oriented place I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Timber Hills presents as a well-appointed retirement community with a broad continuum of care and a setting that many families find attractive. Strengths consistently cited include compassionate, engaged caregiving staff, visible on-site clinical resources, and a wide array of amenities — salon, chapel, deli/dining room, fitness spaces and an active calendar of programs and outings. Apartment offerings tend to be spacious and well maintained, with options that include balconies and in-unit laundry in some units; the campus setting is wooded with walking paths and pond views.

Care and staff behavior are generally described positively: reviewers highlight attentive aides and nurses who build personal relationships, timely communication in many instances, and clinical touches such as an on-site doctor and memory-care staff who are familiar with residents' medication needs. At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns: staff training and after-hours supervision are described as uneven, and experiences during the transition from independent to assisted living can vary. Several reviewers also noted inconsistency in the performance and engagement of contracted third-party providers, which can affect end-of-life and specialized services.

Dining and activities are prominent features of life at Timber Hills. The activity program is broad and well-attended, including fitness classes, hobby groups, concerts, workshops and regular social outings. Dining options include sit-down meals, a deli-style offering and the ability to dine in private; opinions on meal quality and value are mixed, with some residents satisfied and others viewing cost and meal format as drawbacks. Prospective residents should ask about specific meal plans and sample dining options during a visit.

Facility-level strengths include cleanliness, recent remodeling in places, indoor and heated parking, and a package of on-site conveniences that support independent living. Areas for prospective residents to inspect closely are the building layout (some find the campus large and complex), lighting in main common areas, and unit-specific features such as window coverings and temperature control. There are also practical constraints to note: availability is sometimes limited (waitlist), some units do not have in-unit laundry, and garden access is restricted despite outdoor walking spaces.

Overall, Timber Hills appears to offer a strong mix of social programming, campus amenities, and on-site clinical support that will appeal to those seeking an active, community-oriented setting with a range of care levels. Families considering the community should tour units to verify specific amenity packages, ask about staffing patterns and after-hours supervision, and clarify how the community coordinates with external providers such as hospice to ensure those services meet expectations.
