    Caring attentive staff, clean facility

I'm very pleased with this senior living community - the staff are consistently caring, attentive and friendly, the facility is clean, modern and well kept, and private rooms/independent apartments feel organized and safe. The meals are delicious, staff regularly check on residents and follow safety protocols (masks, temperature checks); overall supportive and comforting, with only minor areas that could be improved.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Poplar Springs Nursing Center is consistently described as a clean, well-kept facility with private rooms and en suite bathrooms. Review language indicates a reasonably modern interior and a generally organized, safe environment. The layout described — private rooms with small sitting areas and no in-room kitchenettes — supports modest, functional accommodations appropriate for independent and basic assisted-living needs.

Care and staff: The most consistent positive pattern is the quality of interpersonal care. Staff are characterized as friendly, caring, attentive, and proactive in checking on residents; family comments emphasize supportive interactions and staff engagement that contribute to resident well-being. There is also mention of an accessible physician and a generally well-staffed operation, which together suggest reliable day-to-day clinical oversight and responsiveness.

Dining and infection control: Dining receives clear praise — reviewers describe enjoyable, high-quality meals and a positive dining experience. Infection-control and safety practices are visible to visitors and families, with measures such as temperature checks and mask requirements called out specifically.

Facilities, activities, and management: Facilities are well maintained, but accommodations are described as basic rather than luxurious. A specific operational concern that emerges is property-management: at least one family cited loss of personal belongings during a rehabilitation stay, which points to a need for stronger secure-storage and inventory practices. Review commentary also implies limited in-room amenities (no kitchenettes) and a narrower service scope for residents with higher-acuity needs, so prospective residents requiring more complex care should confirm service capabilities. Activity and engagement programming is not frequently described in the available commentary; families seeking robust recreational or therapeutic programming should request details from management.

Advice for prospective residents and families: Poplar Springs appears to be a good fit for those prioritizing cleanliness, attentive staff, private rooms, and a strong dining experience in a safe, organized setting. Before committing, families should ask management about property-security procedures, the full range of assisted-living and rehabilitative services (especially for higher-acuity needs), and the facility’s activity calendar and resident-engagement offerings to ensure they align with the prospective resident’s expectations and care requirements.

    About Poplar Springs Nursing Center

Poplar Springs Nursing Center is a skilled nursing facility with 91 beds, including 69 private rooms and a 20-bed licensed dementia unit with its own private dining area, and the place runs as Poplar Springs Nursing Center, LLC, focusing on both long-term and short-term care for people with different needs, so some folks stay for rehabilitation, others for ongoing nursing help, and there's a team for in-house physical, occupational, and speech therapies, as well as mental wellness programs and social services, which means residents get care that covers health and daily living, and you'll find the rooms fully furnished with private bathrooms, air-conditioning, cable, telephone, Wi-Fi, housekeeping, linen service, and kitchenettes, plus physician services, a four-member therapy team, registered dietitians who plan the meals, and 24-hour call systems with nurse staff working 12 to 16 hours shifts each day, which helps with comfort and peace of mind. The community serves three meals per day in casual dining rooms, offers free DIRECTV in each room, provides in-house beauty and barber services, and has amenities like a beauty salon, computer center, dining room, fitness room, gaming room, garden, outdoor space, small library, wellness center, and transportation options for outings or appointments, and there's pet-friendly living and Wi-Fi/high-speed internet throughout the facility. Residents can join daily activities, enjoy planned day trips, and participate in a resident-run activities program or community-sponsored events, which gives everyone the chance to be social or spend quiet time in private areas, and some nursing centers nearby also offer parking and additional transportation for non-medical trips. The community supports independent living with a maintenance-free lifestyle, resort-style amenities, and optional support services, and when it comes to care, assisted living services include help with bathing, dressing, medication management, and meals, while skilled nursing covers wound care, rehabilitation, and round-the-clock monitoring, and memory care gives specialized support in a secure environment for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia, with therapies to help reduce confusion and prevent wandering. Dialysis care, respite care for temporary relief for caregivers, and transition training for returning home are also available, and the staff emphasizes compassion, dignity, and respect in everything they do, which is something you'll feel from the loving and caring caregivers. The cost for nursing home care in Poplar Springs is about $2,671 per month, and the facility participates in Medicare and Medicaid, while the focus stays on providing a comfortable, welcoming, and supportive place that helps people keep their quality of life.
