    Warm, professional staff; seamless move-in

I'm very happy with our move - the staff are professional, warm, and attentive, move-in was seamless, and complimentary cleaning/laundry and reliable transportation make life easy. The food and new dining room are excellent, facilities are clean and modern with beautiful grounds by Faust Park, and there are abundant activities, clubs, on-site health services and a strong sense of community. Overall a comfortable, well-run place that exceeded my expectations.

    Summary of reviews

Friendship Village Chesterfield presents as a large, well-resourced nonprofit retirement community with a broad continuum of services and a strong emphasis on campus amenities and social engagement. The physical plant is frequently described as modern and attractive, with recent renovations in independent and assisted-living areas, well-kept landscaping, and a park-like setting adjacent to Faust Park. The community offers many on-site conveniences — from a professional kitchen and varied dining venues to a fitness center, pool, salon, theater, and a gated pet park — which supports an active lifestyle for many residents. The Lifecare plan, fixed-rate options, and occasional discounts or fee waivers are factors that make the model financially attractive to some prospective residents.

Staff, activities, and day-to-day living are common strengths. Reviewers consistently note compassionate, friendly caregiving staff, proactive social-work support, and helpful maintenance and concierge services. The activity program is broad, with frequent outings, clubs, volunteer opportunities, and reliable transportation for errands and medical visits, contributing to a strong sense of community and social involvement. Dining quality is frequently highlighted as excellent, with a professional kitchen and rotating menus, although dining-service continuity can be affected when operations are disrupted.

Clinical care presents a more mixed picture and is an area where prospective residents should exercise focused due diligence. While nursing and therapy services are available on-site and some rehabilitation staff receive high marks, there are recurring concerns about the facility’s capacity to consistently meet the needs of higher-acuity residents. Reports indicate delays in assistance and medication administration, variability in personal-care responsiveness, and uneven physical conditions between renovated independent-living spaces and older skilled-nursing areas. Those who require more intensive assistance have sometimes arranged for additional private caregivers; this suggests that families should assess staffing levels, clinical protocols, and unit conditions relative to anticipated care needs.

Operational and administrative patterns also merit attention. Multiple comments point to inconsistent communication, slow or cumbersome check-in/security procedures, and occasional uncooperative or variable customer-facing interactions. Ongoing construction has been linked to service interruptions and occasional dining or staffing strains. There are also serious governance and safety-related concerns cited, including allegations of theft and questions about staff morale and retention; additionally, there are references to concerns following a resident’s death that prospective families will want to explore with leadership. Cost and availability are practical constraints: larger two-bedroom units have long waitlists and overall pricing may be out of range for some households despite Lifecare offsets.

Overall, Friendship Village Chesterfield is suited to seniors seeking an active, amenity-rich campus with a strong social network and many on-site services. It appears particularly well-matched to independent and assisted-living residents focused on community, activities, and quality dining. Prospective residents and families should arrange detailed conversations with clinical leadership and current resident families, inspect the current condition of skilled nursing and rehab units, review staffing levels and medication-management protocols, and clarify financial safeguards and check-in procedures before committing, especially if higher-acuity care or larger-unit availability is a key concern.

    About Friendship Village Chesterfield

Friendship Village Chesterfield sits at 15201 Olive Blvd. in Chesterfield, Missouri, tucked away in a quiet, wooded area near a main road, and has served seniors since 1974, earning a good reputation for quality care in a faith-based, not-for-profit setting. The community covers a wide range of needs, with options including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, adult day care, home health, and hospice-all within one campus, so someone who lives there doesn't have to move if needs change, and the whole place is designed to be safe, welcoming, and easy to get around for seniors, with handicap access, landscaped paths, and secure memory support areas.

There are different kinds of housing, with studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, including larger patio homes, and some options are pet-friendly with a gated Pet Park. Residents get to pick from various rental terms, and while the details for utilities are not all listed, the price is all-inclusive and insurance payments are accepted, which means no hidden fees for the basics. Units come with private cleaning, and there's parking for both residents and guests. Outdoors, you'll see flower gardens, paved walking paths, courtyards, and sitting areas to enjoy the view or fresh air, so there's a bit of nature everywhere you turn.

The dining is set up restaurant-style with modern decor, and the staff prepares special meals for different tastes and needs-there's even a cozy ice cream parlor and an on-site market for essentials and snacks. For entertainment and hobbies, you'll find a recreation room, craft and activity spaces, a pool and jacuzzi, Nintendo Wii bowling, cooking clubs, educational talks, and more regular events that get people together, which helps build a friendly atmosphere. Those wanting quiet time can use the chapel with stained glass windows, the private library, or stop in for Bible study and worship.

Healthcare is thorough and includes in-house skilled nursing, medication help, homecare, diabetic and incontinence management, and help for people who don't get around easily. Memory care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's happens in a dedicated building that opened in October 2020, where there are extra safety measures like secured areas and bright activity rooms to lessen confusion and wandering. For those needing short-term help or a break for caregivers, Friendship Village Chesterfield also offers respite care for a limited stay. Staff provide support with daily living, health monitoring, mental health care, and social engagement.

Fitness areas, a salon and spa, and a wellness center are open for residents wanting to stay active or relaxed, and the place offers good Wi-Fi through all the buildings. Spiritual life is fostered with weekly chapel and study, and the staff help with guidance and care decisions, answering questions most days from early morning until evening with a toll-free number for those who want to call.

Friendship Village Chesterfield maintains steady high ratings, with a 4.5-star average from mostly verified reviews, and holds a community score of 8.0 for safety, neighborhood quality, and how happy the residents and their families are. The community's pricing averages around $3,221 a month, though exact costs depend on care and unit. The campus has the look and feel of a resort without being flashy, and everything from apartments to the skilled care unit is kept clean and well-maintained, for comfort and peace of mind. The community takes time to help people understand their senior care choices, and, while some building details and policies don't appear in the public listings, the basic facts about the place's long history and all-around services are clear-with Friendship Village Chesterfield, seniors have access to nearly everything they might want or need in one steady, welcoming location.
