    Kind, clean, attentive, well-staffed community

I placed my mother at Aspire and have been very pleased. The team is consistently kind, compassionate and attentive, with strong medical support and staff ready to help when needed. The community is beautiful and very clean - large rooms, wide doors and hallways, a big dining/kitchen area, outdoor patio and plenty of activities each day. Overall a loving, well-staffed place I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The facility is described by many reviewers as a welcoming, well-appointed community with strengths in physical accessibility, communal space design, and an active daily program. Multiple comments highlight large rooms, wide doors and hallways suitable for wheelchair use, comfortable TV and sitting areas, and an outdoor patio. The dining room and kitchen are noted as large and well-staffed, and several reviewers commented positively on food quality.

Care and staff: Reviewer accounts converge on the presence of compassionate, attentive staff and visible clinical oversight in many circumstances. Families describe staff who are kind, engaged in residents’ lives, and responsive when a resident is ill. At the same time, there are reports indicating variability in the consistency of hands-on care and in rehabilitation follow-through; a subset of experiences suggests that expected rehab or specific care needs were not fully met. This pattern points to generally strong caregiving culture with episodic lapses in execution or continuity.

Dining and activities: Programming appears robust, with an activity board and multiple activities scheduled each day (typically cited as three to four events). Communal gathering spaces and TV areas support socialization, and the facility’s kitchen and dining setup are described as well-staffed and capable, contributing to generally positive mealtime experiences.

Facilities and cleanliness: The physical plant is frequently praised for accessibility and spaciousness. Many reviewers describe the environment as clean and well-maintained; however, there are isolated accounts of sanitation and odor concerns in resident rooms or specific areas. Those divergent observations suggest that housekeeping and environmental-control standards are usually effective but may be inconsistent in certain units or shifts.

Management and communication: Several reviewers raised concerns about admission and placement processes, including denials without clear explanation and uncertainty about why a resident’s needs could not be met. Related concerns include gaps in communication with families during care transitions and limited clarity about care plans or next steps. These communication and policy-transparency issues appear to be a key driver of dissatisfaction when expectations are not met.

Notable pattern and guidance: Taken together, the reviews depict a facility with many operational strengths—accessible design, active programming, a sizable and attentive staff, and generally good food and communal spaces—paired with variability in consistent care delivery, rehabilitation follow-through, environmental sanitation in limited instances, and clarity around admissions and family communication. Prospective residents and family members would benefit from direct conversations with management about specific admission criteria, rehabilitation capabilities, staffing models for the relevant unit/shift, housekeeping protocols, and planned communication practices to reduce the likelihood of the inconsistencies described by some families.

    About Aspire of Excelsior Springs

Aspire of Excelsior Springs sits at 1003 Meadowlark Lane in Excelsior Springs, MO, and you'll find a place that's got all kinds of care. There are options like Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Home Care, Adult Day Services, Long-Term Care, Skilled Nursing, and even Hospice Care and Medicare-certified Home Health services, so folks can move in and get the right kind of help when they need it, and families can visit knowing there's a broad range of support. They focus on treating residents with attention, respect, and professionalism, and there's clear communication with both residents and families. Their dedication comes across in many ways, but all the basic routines are covered, from daily care to skilled rehab for those that need to recover from surgeries or illnesses, and there are fun community activities like golf tournaments to keep people connected. Aspire of Excelsior Springs shows an average CMS Overall Rating, and it accepts both Medicaid and Medicare, which takes some of the worry out of how to pay for things. It's a for-profit corporation, and it has 108 certified beds, usually hosting about 77 residents a day, so it's not overwhelmingly large. The nurse turnover rate runs lower than the state average at 43.9%, though the total reported nurse staffing hours per resident per day come out to 2.89, which lands below the Missouri average. It's worth noting the place does have areas to work on, as recent inspections found 29 deficiencies, including several tied to infection control, medicine storage, and hiring staff with the right certifications-that's a spot where there could be more than minimal risk, even if there hasn't been actual harm. Still, there's steady oversight, and the place keeps its doors open for people who need not only somewhere to live but a wide network of support, help with health services, and opportunities to engage with the local community and businesses, since they also run a community calendar, hold luncheons, offer job listings, and have meeting rooms and a resource library for business needs. While the facility's got a lot to offer, it's wise to check their most recent inspection and their current community programs to see how things are going these days.
