    Small caring home with lakeviews

I'm very pleased with Beaver Lake - a small, new 16-room home that's impeccably maintained with lovely lake views and roomy private rooms. The staff and owners (Tony and Karen) are compassionate, professional, and treated my mom like family; communication, meds, meals and activities are well managed. The place feels safe, homey and personal - my mom's mood and appearance improved noticeably. I would recommend this warm, attentive community.

    Summary of reviews

Beaver Lake Lodge presents as a small, recently built assisted living community with a strong emphasis on a homelike, family-oriented atmosphere. Many families praise the staff as compassionate, personable, and professional, and describe noticeable improvements in resident mood and appearance after admission. The facility itself is consistently described as clean, well-kept, and attractively sited on a lake with a front porch and private dock. Private, roomy units with private baths and recently updated furnishings are common positives, as are a well-appointed dining area and an overall sense of safety and maintenance.

Care quality appears mixed but leans positive for families who need non-intensive assisted living services. Medication administration is available and staff are frequently described as attentive; owners and leadership are praised by several families for their hands-on approach. At the same time, reviewers raised operational concerns that may be relevant to prospective residents with higher clinical needs. Comments point to inconsistent staffing levels—notably overnight shortages—and the absence of a full-time on-site nurse, which suggests limited clinical depth for residents who require frequent medical oversight.

Dining and nutrition are a notable area of divergence. Some reviewers describe enjoyable meals and attentive kitchen staff, while others cite a lack of diet structure and weight-gain concerns. This suggests menu planning and individualized nutritional oversight may vary by resident and should be clarified with management prior to move-in. Activity programming is another mixed area: the small size creates a quiet environment that some families appreciate, but organized activities and off-site excursions appear limited. Occasional offerings such as bingo and arts-and-crafts are noted, but regular transportation to appointments, shopping, or routine outings is inconsistent.

Management and operations show both strengths and weaknesses. The facility is owner-operated and several families commend the owners for excellent leadership and responsiveness. Conversely, other families describe management as busy or less engaged, with instances of unmet commitments and inconsistent follow-through. A small number of serious concerns about staff conduct and communication tone were mentioned; while these appear isolated relative to the overall volume of positive remarks, they warrant direct discussion with leadership and reference checks.

In summary, Beaver Lake Lodge is likely a good fit for prospective residents who prioritize a small, scenic, budget-friendly assisted living setting and who need supportive, non-intensive care in a personable environment. Prospective residents with higher clinical requirements, a strong need for regular transportation and frequent off-site activity, or a need for tightly structured nutritional plans should verify staffing patterns (including overnight coverage and nursing availability), activity schedules, transportation options, and written dietary/nutrition policies before making a placement decision. Additionally, asking for recent references and discussing any past concerns about staff conduct with management can help families assess fit and oversight practices.

Social connections get encouraged through on-site events and regular interaction with local community groups.

Healthcare needs are addressed by coordinating with outside providers, while on-site aides and nursing staff look after medication management and health supervision all day and night. The facility is licensed and provides both assisted living and board and care home services as part of their CFI program. Management comes from Christine Burdick, with ownership under Kimberly-nharch by Beaver Lake Lodge, As Life Goes On, LLC.
