    Spotless facility compassionate attentive staff

I placed my mom here and was very pleased - the facility is spotless, bright and welcoming, and the staff were professional, kind, and consistently attentive. Nursing, rehab therapists and aides provided compassionate, skilled care and activities were offered almost every day (I'd love to see beginner's bingo and advanced pokino added for different skill levels). Maintenance and front desk were helpful, family communication was good, and I'm grateful to the team - I highly recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Roosevelt Care Centers is described by many families and residents as a professionally run facility with strong clinical and rehabilitative capability. Praise centers on the nursing staff, therapists, and discharge-planning team; multiple accounts highlight attentive nurses, effective physical therapy, and successful transitions home. The facility's common areas and rooms are frequently described as clean and well maintained, with recreational staff providing themed days, crafts, outings, and virtual visiting options that support resident engagement and family communication.

Care and clinical services: Clinical strengths include a visible emphasis on rehabilitation, coordinated team-based care, and attentive nursing on many units. Reviewers credit therapists and nurses with tangible functional gains and safe discharges. At the same time, there is a pattern of variability in direct-care performance: reviewers note differences in staff training, bedside manner, and timeliness. A subset of reviews raises serious safety and care concerns—including medication-administration practices and timeliness of incontinence-related assistance—that suggest gaps in clinical process consistency and supervision in specific instances.

Staffing, management, and communication: Admissions staff and several front-desk team members are regularly praised for warmth and clear communication, and families often note helpful updates and special accommodations (such as keepsake items and video chats). However, reviewers also describe uneven management responsiveness and inconsistent courtesy from some employees. Staffing shortages and high patient-to-staff ratios are recurring themes that appear to contribute to delays in care, variable resident supervision, and uneven family experiences. There are also isolated but serious complaints about personal-property handling and about outcomes that prompted concerns following a resident's death; these items point to needs for stronger inventory controls and incident communication protocols.

Dining and activities: Dining is generally viewed positively—meals are described as home-like with vegetarian options—and recreational programming is a facility strength, with frequent activities, themed events, and engaged activity staff. Critiques include occasional dry or inconsistent meal preparation and some repetitive activity offerings; reviewers suggested broader skill-level programming (e.g., beginner/advanced game options) and more consistent food quality.

Facilities and logistics: The physical plant is often characterized as clean, bright, and comfortable. Positive notes include prompt maintenance responses and a safe, home-like environment. Operational issues flagged include limited visitor parking with long walks from employee lots, occasional elevator outages, and isolated sanitation or maintenance lapses in particular areas. Nighttime noise from televisions in common areas is also noted as a contributor to sleep disruption for some residents.

Bottom line and patterns to weigh: Roosevelt appears to deliver strong rehabilitative services and compassionate nursing care in many cases, with a generally clean facility and active engagement programs. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against recurring operational issues—staffing variability, process gaps around medication and incontinence care, occasional property-handling concerns, and access/logistics constraints. When considering the facility, families may want to ask for unit-specific staffing ratios, medication-administration protocols, property-inventory procedures, and examples of how the facility addresses training and supervision to ensure consistency across shifts and units.

    About Roosevelt Care Centers

Roosevelt Care Center has a rich legacy, continuously evolving since its establishment in the 1930s to serve the changing medical needs of the local community. Originally constructed as a tuberculosis hospital through the Works Project Administration, the facility played a critical role in public health, treating thousands of patients during its early years. With the decline of tuberculosis cases and a growing senior population, the facility underwent a significant transformation in the 1950s when it was converted into a long-term care center, reflecting the shifting healthcare priorities of the region.

As the needs of the community expanded, Roosevelt Care Center responded with both structural and programmatic enhancements. In 1964, the addition of an annex building on Parsonage Road marked the first major expansion of the campus, enabling the center to broaden its services and accommodate more residents. The facility underwent further development in 1982 with the completion of a 250-bed expansion, significantly increasing its capacity to care for those in need. These additions provided the foundation for the center to introduce new specialized programs, such as the hospice program established in the late 1980s, which provided much-needed comfort and support for residents with serious illnesses and their families.

Continuing its commitment to comprehensive and progressive care, Roosevelt Care Center instituted subacute rehabilitation services in the late 1990s, offering residents advanced therapeutic support during recovery from illness or surgery. In May 2005, the campus experienced another milestone with the establishment of a second facility on Parsonage Road, accommodating 180 beds. This modern, state-of-the-art center has since become the primary base of operations, representing the shift toward more contemporary infrastructures within the Roosevelt Care organization.

Throughout its history, Roosevelt Care Center has maintained a dedication to enhancing the quality of life for its residents. The careful integration of new facilities, services, and programs demonstrates a thoughtful approach to meeting the ongoing and diverse needs of the aging population in the area. The organization continues to build on its distinguished past, upholding the same commitment to care and innovation that has defined Roosevelt Care Center for generations.
