    Professional compassionate care, respectful communication

I was very pleased with my experience here. The staff - from leadership (Jenine) to nurses, CNAs and therapists - were professional, compassionate and went above and beyond; PT/OT and wound care helped regain independence, meals and activities felt homelike, and the community was warm and attentive. Grateful for the respectful, dignified care and strong communication throughout our stay.

    Summary of reviews

Washington Center elicits strongly mixed impressions. A consistent strength across many accounts is the staff: nurses, CNAs, therapists, and activity personnel are frequently described as compassionate, attentive, and resident-focused. Clinical services such as physical and occupational therapy and wound care earn frequent praise for helping residents regain function and independence. Several families described meaningful, personalized interactions, strong day-shift responsiveness, and leadership that is proactive and communicative. The activities program and community atmosphere are often cited as sources of morale and engagement, and many residents and families report feeling welcomed and comfortable after admission.

Care quality shows notable variability. While many residents receive high-quality bedside care and effective therapy, other accounts raise operational concerns that impact care consistency. Reviewers note understaffing and uneven coverage—particularly on weekends—which can lead to delayed responses to call bells and slower attention to personal-care needs. There are also reports indicating sanitation and incontinence-care concerns and occasional clinical-safety issues such as falls or possible infection events; these suggest the facility may have gaps in clinical incident response and post-incident family communication. A subset of comments references past regulatory or legal actions and fines, which families should consider as part of the facility’s broader record.

Dining and food service are another area of divergence. Some reviewers praise recent culinary improvements, varied menu options, and holiday or high-quality noon meals; others describe the food as inconsistent or feeling institutional at times. Meal timing and presentation are generally acceptable to many families, but menu quality appears to vary with staffing and chef changes.

Facility environment and management impressions are mixed. The building and common areas are often described as bright and comfortable, but room condition and overall maintenance are said to be uneven; some families recommend room updates. Administrative responsiveness is likewise inconsistent: several reviews commend specific leaders for rapid communication and problem resolution, whereas others describe unreturned messages, unprofessional interactions, or poor follow-through. There are also operational concerns around security and personal-item management that merit inquiry during a visit.

Overall, Washington Center appears to offer strong, compassionate hands-on care in many cases, with effective therapy and an engaging community culture. At the same time, potential residents and families should explicitly evaluate staffing patterns (weekday vs. weekend), sanitation and safety protocols, administrative communication practices, and the facility’s regulatory history during tours and meetings. Asking about recent staffing ratios, incident-response procedures, meal plans, and therapy schedules can help determine whether the facility’s strengths align with a prospective resident’s needs.

    About Washington Center

Washington Center has 122 beds and serves as a senior living community that offers a range of healthcare and rehabilitation services. Residents can use an on-site Adult Home and get medically supervised Adult Day Care, and there are Assisted Living options for people needing extra help with daily routines. The facility also provides Short-term Rehab, Long-term Care, Skilled Nursing, and Nursing Homes for those who need different levels of ongoing care. People with complex needs have access to special programs like Cardiac Care, Stroke Care, Orthopedic Care, Pulmonary Care, Pain Management, Dialysis Care, Ventilator Care, Wound Care, and HIV/AIDS Care, along with a TBI/Neurobehavioral Unit and dementia care. There's also Ultra-Care for intensive support and Hospice Care for end-of-life comfort.

The center's team of skilled administrators, nurses, and therapists provides round-the-clock care, and they say every resident gets more than one hands-on caregiver. Their nurse in charge leads nursing services, and reviews often mention that aides and nurses show good attention to residents. There's a focus on helping people recover and regain strength, and their specialized programs like the GO Rehab Program, RehabStrong™, and Rehab with Results use cutting-edge rehab technology and individualized plans aimed at getting residents stronger so they can go home. They tailor therapy for each patient and offer rehab after injuries, strokes, or hospital stays, though some reviews mention limited rehab choices.

The center welcomes both long-term and short-term stays and offers services like Home Health Care, Urgent Care, and daily activities to keep folks active. Entertainment includes things like live bands, and amenities help support physical and emotional well-being, with community spaces set up to encourage friendships and support between residents, staff, and family. The building has wheelchair access, parking, comfortable rooms, and on-site services and labs. Food services are available daily, but some reviews have pointed out problems with food quality.

Washington Center uses electronic medical records and the latest charting tools so staff, residents, and families can stay informed. Onsite medical staff handle a range of conditions and their lab supports testing to help with diagnosis and care. Customers usually mention good physical therapy services. The facility is associated with "A Place for Mom" and displays amenities and care types on official profiles. While not everyone is equally satisfied with every detail, especially around food and rehab options, Washington Center does meet expected care standards and works to help residents get better and return to their lives when possible.
