Leroy Manor sits on a twenty-acre campus close to downtown Rochester but keeps the peace of the countryside, and this old estate with elegant architecture offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing, so there's always the right level of support for seniors, from those who just want freedom from chores to folks living with Alzheimer's or who need nursing help every day. The grounds have quiet paths for walking, gardens, and spots to sit outside, and there's a library for reading, a fitness room, a spa, and all kinds of social activities like music, arts, movie nights, and game rooms, with big and small gatherings that bring people together, plus a regular schedule based on what residents like to do, so there's always crafts, exercise, and outings if you're up for it. The community lets you bring your cat or dog, and folks get help with the daily stuff-bathing, dressing, medication, getting around-plus housekeeping, laundry, and meals made by chefs and dietitians who make sure snacks and food are balanced and tasty, and if you want something special, they pay attention to that too, and there's always staff around, including registered nurses, aides, and supervisors any hour of the day, plus you can get help if you're diabetic, need incontinence care, or can't get out of bed on your own, so you know there's health coverage you can trust. Memory care has extra safeguards so people with confusion stay safe and feel less stressed, and independent living is set up for folks who want more of a social life and fewer chores, while there's home care services if you want to stay in your house but could use a bit of regular help, with trained aides who keep people company and follow a doctor's plan if you have one. Privacy matters here, so many rooms let you have your own bathroom and kitchenette, plus air conditioning, cable TV, phone, Wi-Fi, and furniture if you need it, either private or sometimes shared to save money, and the emergency alert system means someone comes quick if you call for help. There's scheduled transportation, parking, concierge service, move-in help, linen service, and special touches for veterans, including on-site visits and better amenities, and the place is approved for ALP and Medicaid if you need higher care support. Residents meet health professionals like physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses right on site, and there's support for mental health on and off campus, and family members get help if they need it too, and the community is proud of its friendly staff and warm way of doing things, which has won them recognition for good activities and care. You can have weddings and events in the historic estate, and the Facebook page keeps everyone updated about daily life and programs. The focus stays on helping folks keep their independence, stay safe and engaged, and enjoy life in a setting that's straightforward and built around what people need and want.
Neglectful, understaffed, unprofessional, poor communication
I placed a loved one here and have mixed feelings. A few staff were caring, attentive, and helped with Medicaid, but the negatives far outweighed the positives: missed/forgotten meds, medication neglect, staff sometimes unprofessional or coming to work impaired, name-calling and admin abuse, frequent no-shows, and terrible communication after incidents. The place felt sad, dingy, and understaffed-cleanliness and management are serious problems. I cannot recommend this facility until leadership, staffing, and oversight improve.
