    Compassionate staff and home-like community

I'm very pleased with Heather Heights. The staff - especially Patricia and the admissions team - are warm, attentive and compassionate; they made move-in seamless and checked on my loved one after a hospital stay. The community is clean, safe and home-like with great meals (three daily options), on-site therapy, daily ice cream socials and plenty of activities; my family feels supported.

    Summary of reviews

Heather Heights conveys a predominantly positive impression in areas families commonly prioritize: caregiving presence, clinical services, social programming and physical environment. Many reviews emphasize compassionate, attentive staff and the availability of on-site clinical resources — 24/7 nursing coverage, periodic physician visits, and rehabilitation therapies (PT/OT) — which supports residents who need both assisted living and memory-care services. Admissions and intake processes are frequently described as well organized, and staff who manage transitions receive strong praise for communication and family coordination.

Dining and activities are consistently highlighted as strengths. The community offers restaurant-style dining with menu variety, daily dessert options and a much-noted on-site ice cream parlor. Culinary comments range from praise for chefs and specific dishes to concerns about occasional portion sizes and service temperature. The activity program is robust on paper and includes live music, theater room screenings, exercise classes, holiday events and scheduled outings; these offerings create a socially engaging environment for many residents. That said, activity participation and the reliability of specific events vary: reviewers report occasional cancellations, low attendance at some programs, and less engagement in memory-care programming.

Facility and apartment features are frequently described as clean, attractive and well maintained, with pleasant outdoor spaces, patios and interior gathering rooms. The property offers a range of apartment sizes and furnished alternatives, including two-room suites and smaller studios. At the unit level there is variability: some apartments and parts of the memory-care neighborhood were described as dated or in need of refresh, and a few reviewers called out localized odor concerns and less-frequent deep-cleaning in certain areas.

Several recurring operational concerns appear across reviews and merit attention. Staffing consistency is the most common: reviewers note uneven aide quality, intermittent understaffing and relatively high turnover, all of which can affect continuity of care. Related clinical issues include gaps in medication administration and documentation practices and inconsistent fall-prevention or supervision practices. Management and communication quality is mixed — while many families experienced strong, transparent communication, others described lapses in responsiveness and accountability. Property and personal-item safeguards were flagged in a small number of accounts, suggesting families should ask about inventory and security procedures.

Cost and payer policy are practical considerations: Heather Heights operates at a premium price point relative to some area alternatives, and the community does not accept Medicaid (direct-pay only). Prospective residents who value an active social calendar, on-site clinical supports, and a well-kept campus may find the community a strong fit, provided they are comfortable with the fee structure. Visitors assessing the property should prioritize conversations and observations about current staffing levels and turnover, medication and incident-reporting procedures, memory-care programming and unit maintenance, and obtain specifics on cleaning schedules and fall-prevention protocols to ensure alignment with the resident’s clinical and social needs.

    About Heather Heights - Pittsford

Heather Heights: Assisted Living & Memory Care in Pittsford sits on fourteen acres in the countryside village of Pittsford, NY, serving Monroe County, and with its single-story design and welcoming entrance, folks tend to find it pretty easy to get around, and the staff there have a helpful and kind way about them that many residents and families talk about. The community offers assisted living, enhanced assisted living, memory care, and respite care, focusing on seniors who need different amounts of help, and they do have nurses on-site all the time for emergencies, which gives peace of mind, and the staff are always close by, day or night. People with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other cognitive issues have a secure, specially designed part of the community, with a wander prevention system in place and round-the-clock support, so those residents feel safe and don't get confused or lost, and the care plan for each person is personalized, taking into account needs with walking, medical equipment, incontinence, or even if someone is chairfast.

The place offers 96 roomy assisted living beds and 24 dedicated memory care beds, and every room comes fully furnished, has its own private bathroom, and some even have views of the outdoor land. Folks can bring their pets too since they allow animals, and the whole place is handicap accessible, so getting around isn't a big problem. There's wireless call bells, Wi-Fi, computers, and internet access, so people can stay connected, plus there are a bunch of activities running day and night-recreation, outings, social events, and programs that keep minds and bodies active, whether someone wants to spend time in the ice cream parlor, the two activities rooms, the beauty salon, or just enjoy an outing in the community. Staff can help with bathing, dressing, medication management, special diets, diabetic needs, oxygen services, and daily housekeeping, and there's medication management and fine dining, including three chef-prepared meals each day approved by a dietician, and the dining focuses on nutrition and taste.

Heather Heights is licensed to take in people with higher care needs who might otherwise have to move to skilled nursing, and their enhanced assisted living option is set up to be less expensive than skilled care when you pay out of pocket. The doors stay locked after 7:00 pm, but there's a bell to let folks in, and visitors can come whenever with a tour to get a sense of daily life, dining, and the kind of care offered. For those who served or their spouses, there's help for the Aide & Attendance benefit paperwork. Everything is included in the price for all the levels of care, making it easier for families to plan, and Heather Heights keeps focus on providing choices for seniors who want to stay independent as long as possible, but need different amounts of help along the way. The facility has been recognized with awards for its care and positive reviews from both the residents living there and their families, and the general feeling is that it stays a warm, lively, and thoughtful place for older adults who need extra support.
