    Clean caring staff homelike facility

I'm very pleased with this small, family-style facility - clean, caring staff (Gina has been wonderful), attentive memory-care, and up-to-date communication. My mom is eating well, gaining weight, and making friends; the nutritious food, daily activities, two sitting rooms, and private/semi-private rooms feel homelike. Convenient location and hands-on staff have made our experience positive.

    Summary of reviews

Heritage of Richlands presents as a small, community-style senior living facility with roughly 40 residents. Strengths described include a consistently clean interior, multiple common sitting areas, and a family-like atmosphere that supports socialization. Families noted that some staff provide attentive, personalized updates and that particular team members stood out for clear communication. The facility offers both private and semi-private rooms and identifies as capable of providing memory-care services; several accounts described improved resident appetite and weight gain following admission.

Care quality appears generally attentive, with caring staff and direct interaction between caregivers and residents emphasized. However, a recurring pattern involves inconsistent accessibility by phone and gaps in family communication at certain times or across shifts. Some families experienced a rocky initial transition that later stabilized; this suggests variability in early admission processes and in transition planning. For residents with complex behavioral profiles—particularly frontal-lobe dementia presentations with delusional symptoms—families expressed concerns about the facility’s capacity to meet those specialized needs and about safety in a few cases.

Dining and activities are viewed positively: meals are described as nutritious and appealing, and daily programming supports social engagement and friendships among residents. The small size of the community was cited as a benefit for relationship-building and individualized attention. Facilities are generally clean and orderly, but the physical plant is older, which contributes to limited parking and some space constraints. Location is convenient for many local families but may be less centrally located for those seeking close access to downtown.

Management and operations show mixed indicators. When communication channels function, families receive timely, personalized updates; when they do not, phone access and scheduling coordination become notable frustrations. Prospective families should ask about the facility’s procedures for initial admission and care stabilization, behavioral-support capabilities for complex dementia symptoms, staff coverage and shift-to-shift communication, and preferred methods for family contact. Visiting in person and discussing a transition plan with leadership can help determine whether Heritage of Richlands’ small-community environment and memory-care programming match a prospective resident’s clinical and behavioral needs.

    About Heritage of Richlands

Heritage of Richlands has a little bit of everything, and folks moving in can expect all the basics covered plus some extra touches, so you've got big shared spaces like a reading room, game rooms, and an arts room for painting or crafts, then there's a hairdresser and even a traveling stylist for keeping up appearances, and it's got a barbershop and beauty shop right onsite along with a steam room, jacuzzi, fitness area, and spots for therapy and health needs, and the staff puts together daily schedules like organized fitness groups, music plans, art times, and movie nights to help keep people active and social, with yard areas outside and walking paths for residents who like a bit of fresh air or a visit in the garden, and a structure that gives seniors their independence but also help when it's needed, whether that's getting washed and dressed, taking medicine, or just moving from one spot to another if mobility's tough, and staff can handle incontinence care, insulin or diabetic management, and have a secure area for folks with memory loss, so seniors with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia get support to stay safe and avoid confusion, and the team's there day and night with 24-hour awake staff and emergency call systems for peace of mind. Meals here come hot from the kitchen three times every day with plans that take care around allergies or diabetes, and the dining setup means eating when you're hungry with all-day restaurant-style service, plus housekeeping and laundry help, even dry cleaning, so your room stays tidy. There's pet therapy, music therapy, plenty of board games, movie entertainment, and even some outings for errands or religious services, and the staff helps with rides to appointments, shopping, or local events if you need to get around. Hospice and rehab are available if a resident needs more care, and the staff works up a personal plan for each person, matching up their help with whatever's needed for dignity and comfort. The place is fairly large with room for up to 60 folks, and it has big, open spaces for social events like music nights, art sessions, or just talking with others in the community and staff teams who work with kindness and patience, so there's a real feeling of neighborhood here, and the goal's always keeping each resident safe, comfortable, and well cared for, making sure everybody lives as fully as possible, as independently as possible, in a setting that feels a little bit like home.
