    Caring attentive staff boosted wellbeing

I placed my loved one in this small, six-person home close to us and we've been very pleased. The staff are attentive, loving, and treat residents like family - constant check-ins, prompt communication, and they even accepted our family member with Lewy Body when others wouldn't. Rooms are clean and pleasant, meals are nutritious and flexible, with on-site haircuts and visiting podiatry, and overall my loved one's engagement and wellbeing have noticeably improved. I'm grateful for the caring, responsive team and would recommend this facility.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for this facility are mixed, with a clear split between families describing highly positive, person-centered experiences and others raising significant operational concerns. Strengths commonly cited include a small, home-like setting with staff who are described as warm, communicative, and attentive. Several accounts highlight frequent checks, proactive repositioning, and the facility’s willingness to accept residents with complex dementia diagnoses. Residents and families also praised nutritious and flexible meal options, on-site personal-care services (haircuts and planned podiatry), clean private rooms, and an all-inclusive pricing model.

Care quality and staff performance show wide variation. Positive reports emphasize compassionate caregiving, timely updates to families, and staff who form close, familial relationships with residents. Conversely, other accounts point to inconsistent clinical practices, particularly around medication administration and monitoring, and gaps in staff training and workload management. These operational shortcomings are described as contributing to delays in attending to personal-care needs and variability in clinical follow-through.

Dining and daily living services receive both praise and criticism. The menu and flexible meal choices are appreciated when available, but there are recurring operational concerns about meal-service continuity, inventory control, and adherence to posted menus. Some reports indicate supplies and meals occasionally run short and that accountability around meal distribution needs strengthening. Activity and engagement were generally noted as positive, with families reporting improved wellbeing, increased happiness, and meaningful social interaction for residents.

Facility condition and management practices present a mixed picture. Many families report clean, pleasant rooms and a safe environment; however, others raise sanitation and pest-control concerns and note an odor associated with pest remediation. Management responsiveness is similarly variable: some families describe timely, helpful communication, while others describe slow restocking of supplies and delays in arranging hospital or rehabilitation referrals. Cost is another consistent theme — the facility is described as expensive by multiple families, and a number of reviewers questioned whether the value received matched the price.

Taken together, the pattern suggests that prospective residents and their families may experience either very positive, personalized care or encounter operational lapses that have material effects on daily living and clinical safety. When evaluating this facility in person, consider asking specific questions about staffing ratios and training, medication administration protocols and audit practices, inventory and meal-service controls, pest-control and sanitation policies, pressure-injury prevention procedures, and typical timelines for clinical referrals and care transitions. Observing mealtime service, staff–resident interactions, and documentation about on-site clinical services will help clarify whether the facility’s strengths align with your expectations and care needs.

    About Avendelle Assisted Living

Avendelle Assisted Living sits in a quiet part of Rolesville, North Carolina, on a peaceful property that looks and feels like a home more than a big facility, and it was built with the needs of older adults in mind, so you see wide hallways and doorways all throughout, making it much easier for people with wheelchairs or walkers to move around, and every bathroom has a roll-in shower for easier access if walking or standing is hard. The rooms here are mostly private, with four single-occupancy rooms and one double, and each bedroom, whether private or shared, offers cable TV, telephone, and Wi-Fi so residents can stay in touch or entertained. There are three full bathrooms, laundry service, and regular housekeeping, so nobody has to worry about chores, and meals are served three times a day, with extra snacks and help for folks who need special diets, whether it's allergies or diabetes, and everything is made to make life easier.

The place feels secure because there's a fire alarm and sprinkler system for safety, an emergency alert and alarm system on doors, and staff on duty around the clock to help, whether with getting dressed, taking a shower, or remembering to take medicines-medication management is part of what they do, too. There's always a registered nurse who checks in every couple weeks for health updates, and doctors from Doctors Making Housecalls or the Neighborhood Clinic visit, so there's no need to worry about traveling far just to see a doctor, and a visiting hairdresser often comes by, too. There's a big front yard, gardens, and patios at the front and back, so folks can relax in the sun or join in outdoor activities if they want, and you'll find inside there are community rooms for movies, games, crafts, music, and group activities, all designed to keep minds sharp and days interesting, plus there's guest parking if family visits.

For people who need memory care, there's extra support tailored to Alzheimer's or other memory needs, and the staff use personalized care plans because no two people need the same help, so everything is made to fit each resident. There's always something to do-organized events, clubs, outings around Rolesville, and daily social or educational activities to make sure nobody feels left out or bored. Transportation services are available for appointments or events, and move-in coordination is possible for those settling in. Furnishings are comfortable, and the atmosphere is more like a big family than a large institution, with staff providing help in a discreet and friendly way. Home technology and modification options help with aging in place, and both indoor and outdoor common areas give plenty of places to gather or spend a quiet moment.

People living at Avendelle benefit from all-inclusive rent, so there aren't many surprises, and the personal care provided is meant to promote dignity and comfort, whether someone is independent or needs extra support with daily life. The community has a 7.3 rating on Seniorly and offers a familiar, friendly setting for seniors to stay healthy, safe, and engaged, whether attending to daily needs, socializing, or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon in a peaceful spot.
