    Warm attentive staff, successful rehab

I was very satisfied with my stay - a beautiful, modern facility with a warm, welcoming, family-like atmosphere. The nursing and STNA team (shoutout to RN Rachel and Nurse Sharon), Activity Director Brianna, social worker Gianna and the PT/OT staff (Taylor, Meredith, Beth) were attentive, compassionate and helped make my rehab successful. Administration and reception were responsive, meals and activities were enjoyable, and I would recommend this place for rehab or longer stays.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews describe a facility with a well-appointed physical environment and several strong clinical and service components, paired with inconsistent operational performance. Many families and residents praise the building, private rooms, cleanliness in common areas, and an overall home-like atmosphere. Therapy services (physical and occupational) and activity programming receive frequent endorsement for producing measurable recovery and resident engagement. Multiple caregivers — nurses, CNAs, therapists, social work and administrative staff — are named positively for compassion, attentiveness, and effective coordination in a number of accounts.

However, a substantial and recurring theme is variability in direct-care performance. Reports point to staffing shortfalls at particular times that result in delayed responses to call lights, prolonged waits for toileting and hydration assistance, and inconsistent bathing and feeding support. These operational gaps are associated with medication-timing problems and concerns about clinical monitoring (including missed or delayed treatments and missed signs of infection). Safety-monitoring weaknesses are also described, including fall-prevention and alarm-management lapses. Several accounts reference infection-control problems and pest-control concerns, and there are isolated but serious clinical and discharge issues that suggest inconsistent acuity matching and transitions-of-care practices.

Dining and housekeeping are similarly mixed. Some reviewers commend the meals, variety, and social dining atmosphere; others describe long waits for tray delivery, missing items, and irregular room-cleaning or linen practices. Activity and therapy programs are repeatedly highlighted as strengths, with individualized attention and positive rehabilitation outcomes. The social and rehabilitation teams, along with specific front-desk and therapy staff, receive consistent positive mention for communication and follow-through when those teams are engaged.

Management and communication are characterized as uneven. Several families describe timely, helpful responses from administrators and proactive outreach; others report poor communication during clinical events and discharge planning, delayed family notification, and difficulty obtaining accurate information. There are also a small number of serious allegations— including claims concerning property and billing—that warrant attention and independent investigation.

For prospective residents and families: the Avenue at Aurora offers a modern, comfortable environment and strong therapy/activities programming staffed by committed clinicians in many cases. At the same time, there are persistent operational concerns around staffing consistency, timeliness of direct-care assistance, medication and clinical monitoring, infection-control, and housekeeping continuity. If considering this facility, inquire specifically about current staffing ratios, call‑light response metrics, infection-control protocols, medication administration procedures, and discharge-planning workflows; arrange to meet the nursing leadership and therapy team and request recent quality and inspection records to assess whether identified issues have been addressed.
