    Excellent rehab, caring staff, clean

I had a very positive stay - the rehab and therapy team were excellent, aides and staff were attentive and caring, and the building and rooms were clean and modern. Meals were good, activities (bingo, holiday events) kept my loved one engaged, and staff communication/FaceTime updates kept our family reassured. I would choose this facility again and recommend it for skilled rehab or long-term care.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewers express strongly polarized experiences at this facility. The most consistent positive pattern is high-quality rehabilitation: the physical and occupational therapy teams receive widespread praise for helping residents regain function and progress toward goals. Families also frequently note caring, personable aides and several nurses who provide attentive, compassionate support. The building itself—newer, well maintained and attractively furnished—receives positive remarks about cleanliness of public areas, room appearance, and pleasant common spaces.

However, operational concerns recur across reviews. Staffing levels and consistency are the primary themes: understaffing and variable shift coverage are associated with delayed responses to call bells, missed or late medications, and irregular bathing and room-cleaning schedules. Several families describe lapses in clinical follow-up (for example, inconsistent incision/wound checks and uneven medication administration) that led to escalations of care for some residents. After-hours clinical coverage and physician presence are also described as limited or inconsistent, which reviewers link to delays in decision-making and transfers.

Dining and nutrition receive mixed feedback. Some reviewers praise the chef and describe enjoyable meals, while others note cold plates, small portions, limited menu variety, and insufficient communication about dietary needs—issues that reviewers tie to elevated blood-sugar readings and other nutrition concerns. The activities program is a clear strength for many families: an engaged activities team, creative programming and facilitated video visits during COVID earned consistent positive mention.

Management and administrative performance are described as inconsistent. Admissions staff and a few administrators are singled out for helpfulness and responsiveness, but other reviewers describe poor follow-through on family communications, billing disputes, restricted access to information, and slow complaint resolution. There are serious, isolated allegations extending beyond operational complaints—including claims related to financial mishandling and concerns following a resident’s death—that some reviewers say prompted calls for regulatory review.

For prospective residents and families: weigh the facility’s strong rehabilitation services, attractive environment and active activities program against recurring operational weaknesses tied to staffing, clinical monitoring and communication. Suggested due diligence includes asking about current staffing ratios, after-hours nursing and physician coverage, medication-administration protocols, wound-monitoring procedures, sanitation and room-cleaning schedules, nutrition/dietary planning, and the facility’s process for handling billing disputes and family complaints. Reviewing recent state inspection reports and speaking directly with therapy, nursing and admissions leadership can help clarify whether the facility’s operational gaps have been addressed.

    About Indianspring Skilled Nursing Facility

Indianspring Skilled Nursing Facility sits about 2.9 miles outside Norwood, Ohio, in Cincinnati, and is part of the Carespring network, and while there isn't specific information from the facility itself, what you do get is a standard nursing and rehab setup with both private and semi-private studio rooms, and the rooms come with basics like private bathrooms, cable TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, phones, kitchenettes, and washers and dryers, and housekeeping is there to keep things running clean, plus they've got safety features like sprinkler systems and handicap-friendly designs, and security is a focus. This is a community for seniors who need skilled nursing care after hospital stays or illness, offering 24/7 care, a 12-16 hour nursing service, and a call system for emergencies, so residents are supervised at all times. The nursing home has a 2-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and accepts Medicaid and Medicare, which leads to a mix of residents with different needs. There are lots of amenities, with landscaped grounds and outdoor walking paths, outdoor common areas, a movie theater, a fitness room, a game and activities room, library, an arts room, a salon and barbershop, and scheduled activities like movie nights, music programs, and arts and crafts, health and wellness programs, and even educational sessions, so there's usually something on the calendar. The dining room offers restaurant-style meals from a professional chef with options for allergy-sensitive or diabetes-friendly diets, and you'll see friends and family visiting and joining residents for meals. Transportation and guest parking are on-site, and there are transportation services if residents need rides to appointments. The care covers a long list of services like podiatry, wound care, medication management, occupational therapy, assistance with bathing, dressing, transfers, and general activities of daily living, so people who need more support after hospital stays get help as needed. Staff are said to be compassionate, with good responsiveness and physical therapy, and that focus on keeping physical, social, and medical needs covered is strong-there's a team that includes nurses and personal care assistants, and residents get integrated care, medication support, and even specialized services like home dialysis, and the clinical team leads the approach. They keep things calm so residents can feel safe and maintain independence where possible, with a structure that encourages activity and a lifestyle suited for older adults-often you see the place try to keep residents healthy and engaged through a whole mix of programs and environments meant to respect privacy. Families value the open visits, scheduled events, and the comfortable environment, and reviews mention reliable caregiving along with strong rehab support, especially when moving from hospital care or assisted living. The website, carespring.com/indianspring-of-oakley, is where more information can be found if you want to check directly, but the basics are that this is a skilled nursing facility offering nursing home-level care, memory care, rehabilitation services, and a range of senior living and home care services for elders needing steady support.
