    Outstanding compassionate care and facilities

I toured the community and quickly felt confident my mom would be well cared for. The brand-new, bright facility is spotless and welcoming, with lovely outdoor spaces and restaurant-style dining that serves excellent food. Staff - from leadership to nursing, Chaplain Todd and social worker Sheehan - are compassionate, professional, and helped coordinate the transition and medical transport with great communication. Plenty of activities, strong family involvement, and attentive, reliable care make this a community I would recommend.

    Summary of reviews

The Ashton at Anderson is presented across reviews as a modern, well-appointed community with many features typical of recently built senior living campuses. The facility's physical environment—bright interiors, higher ceilings, attractive grounds, theater, salon, exercise room, library and arts-and-crafts space—receives consistently positive mention. Several families praised a smooth move-in experience and a welcoming front desk and emphasized the community feel in assisted living. On-site services such as transportation to appointments and hospice/chaplain support are noted strengths.

Staffing and direct care produce a mixed picture. Numerous accounts praise compassionate, professional caregivers, attentive nurses, and effective transition coordination; families highlighted timely medication administration, quick maintenance response, and staff who create social opportunities. At the same time, recurring operational concerns include inconsistent staffing levels (particularly nights and weekends), variability in staff training and conduct, and gaps in communication and follow-through with families. There are also mentions of medication-management and clinical-assessment process issues; while some reviews describe accurate medication handling, others describe medication errors or diagnostic miscommunication, indicating uneven clinical reliability.

Dining and activities are strong selling points for many residents: restaurant-style dining, flexible options, flavorful menus, and active social dining environments. The community offers a broad activities calendar and organized outings (shopping trips, museum visits, classes) that support resident engagement. However, reviewers also note variability in food service consistency—examples include portioning changes and price increases for meals or meal delivery—along with occasional declines in menu consistency. Activity programming is generally robust but may not meet every resident’s expectations for frequency or intensity.

Management, pricing and facility operations are areas where prospective families should exercise due diligence. Several accounts describe opaque billing practices, unclear ancillary charges (including meal-delivery fees), and instances of unexpected price increases. There are also comments about disorganized onboarding and reduced responsiveness following ownership or management changes. A limited number of reviews include allegations of deceptive billing practices (for example, double-charging or missing itemized receipts), which raises the importance of obtaining clear written agreements, itemized invoices, and a documented fee schedule prior to move-in.

Maintenance and unit-level concerns are relatively limited but present: reviewers noted intermittent issues such as thermostat problems, drawers that are difficult to operate, and staining of caulking near fixtures. These items suggest occasional gaps in preventive maintenance and sanitation follow-through in some units rather than a pervasive facility-wide condition.

Bottom line: The Ashton at Anderson offers an attractive, amenity-rich environment with many staff who are described as caring and professional and with strong dining and activity resources that suit many assisted-living residents. At the same time, families should probe operational areas that emerge as recurring themes—staffing patterns (nights/weekends), memory-care staffing and programming, medication-management protocols, billing transparency, and management responsiveness—before committing. Asking for documented staffing ratios, written fee schedules and sample invoices, and specifics about memory-care staffing and clinical oversight will help align expectations with current performance.
