    Caring staff and responsive management

I like this place. The staff are abundant, caring and helped my mother, Diamond - they feel like family. New director Raymond and management are responsive; issues get resolved quickly and I feel safe. They're still getting things together, but I would consider returning if not for my hand surgery. Highly recommend for attentive, supportive care.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews describe a facility with a pronounced contrast between frontline caregiving and systemic operational weaknesses. Many families and residents praise individual caregivers and nursing aides for compassionate, attentive bedside care; several accounts describe staff who develop close, family‑like relationships with residents and who respond quickly when problems are raised. At the same time, recurrent themes point to inconsistent clinical oversight and operational reliability that affect overall quality of care.

Care quality is mixed. Positive experiences center on specific caregivers or shifts that provide supportive assistance and effective hands‑on care. However, reviewers also identify substantive gaps in medication administration, pharmacy supply continuity, and monitoring that have resulted in missed or delayed medications and, in some instances, clinical escalation requiring hospitalization. There are also repeated descriptions of delays or inconsistencies in personal‑care tasks and bathing schedules, which contribute to family concerns about routine daily care.

Staffing and staff experience are a major driver of variability. The facility is frequently described as short staffed, with high turnover and overworked employees; these conditions are linked in reviews to inconsistent service, communication breakdowns, and variable staff knowledge. Conversely, when experienced caregivers are present they receive strong praise. Reviewers note a new management presence that has initiated changes, but opinions about its effectiveness are mixed and some families continue to experience unresponsiveness from administration and social‑work support.

Dining and daily services draw negative commentary about meal quality, pricing, and occasional shortages. Laundry handling and resident property controls are also flagged as problematic, with allegations of missing items and inadequate safeguards. Activities programming is not a prominent theme in the reviews; where nonclinical concerns are mentioned the emphasis is more on operational and appearance issues than organized resident engagement.

The physical environment and maintenance are consistent areas of concern. The building is described as dated, with small resident rooms, visible wear, moisture-related issues, and recurring pest‑control and sanitation concerns in common and private areas. Renovation efforts are characterized as partial or uneven, and water intrusion and odor concerns are noted by multiple families.

Management and safety patterns are notable. Reviewers describe weak administrative responsiveness (difficulty reaching staff by phone, voicemail‑only contact, and limited social‑work availability) and broader leadership and oversight deficiencies impacting day‑to‑day operations. There are also serious safety and security concerns mentioned, including allegations of missing property and uncontrolled substance use on premises; these comments indicate a need for stronger controls and incident response protocols. One review references concerns following a resident's death, which underscores the gravity of clinical‑oversight issues for some families.

In summary, Pleasant Ridge Healthcare Center elicits polarized impressions: strong, committed individual caregivers and positive personal experiences coexist with systemic problems in medication management, staffing stability, facility maintenance, food services, and administrative responsiveness. Prospective residents and families would benefit from focused questions about current medication‑safety practices, staffing ratios and continuity, property‑safeguarding procedures, pest‑control and maintenance plans, and recent leadership initiatives before making placement decisions.

    About Pleasant Ridge Healthcare Center

Pleasant Ridge Healthcare Center sits on Verulam Avenue in Cincinnati and stays open all day and night, so people always have help when they need it, and the place is easy enough to get to with guest parking and transportation available if someone needs a ride or doesn't drive anymore. The center offers both private and semi-private rooms with many of the comforts you'd expect, like Wi-Fi, cable TV, activity rooms, a dining room, fitness center, and even washers and dryers, and there's a small kitchen or kitchenette in the unit if someone wants to make something of their own. Staff help with personal care like dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and laundry, and there are personal care assistants on hand for people who need extra help getting through the day. Nurses work around the clock and take care of things like wound care, medication support, and occupational therapy, with podiatrists visiting too, and there's a strong focus on skilled nursing for people who need more hands-on care after a hospital stay or with ongoing health conditions. The place has memory care services for people with Alzheimer's or other kinds of dementia, so they can get support with both housing and therapies tailored just to them, and staff try to treat people kindly and with understanding. Meals are planned by chefs to be healthy and balanced, and there's always a focus on using good, quality ingredients for the folks who live there. People can take part in fitness, salon, or group activities if they choose, and the game room gives neighbors a place to gather. Pleasant Ridge also offers services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, neurorehabilitation for people recovering from brain injuries, as well as addiction treatment, respite care for temporary stays, and even hospice and palliative care for those who need comfort near the end of life. Housekeeping and maintenance keep things orderly, as safety and handicap features, plus the sprinkler system, make sure the community is as safe as possible. It's all part of a larger, family-owned group of post-acute and long-term care centers in the area, with the staff making sure family stays involved in any care planning, so residents and their loved ones know what's going on. Rates for semi-private rooms range between $5,000 and $8,000 each month, while private rooms cost $6,000 to $10,000 depending on the details. Pleasant Ridge Healthcare Center aims to offer a supportive place with the healthcare services seniors need, whether that's short-term rehab after an illness, longer-term nursing, or simply a comfortable and safer place to live, and the senior living advisor in the area can help people decide if this type of care fits what they're looking for.
