    Attentive staff, excellent therapy, immaculate

I was very pleased with Hillspring - the staff treated my loved one like family, nursing was attentive, and the therapy/rehab team was truly top-notch. The building is immaculate, well-maintained, safe and welcoming, with great activities, good food and helpful administration. Overall a caring, professional place I'd recommend for quality short-term or long-term care.

    Summary of reviews

Hillspring presents as a facility with clear strengths in short-term, inpatient rehabilitation and therapy. Reviewers consistently praise the physical and occupational therapy teams, dedicated therapy space, and measurable functional gains after stroke, hip surgery, and other acute events. The facility offers a range of on-site amenities (salon, coffee shop, preschool) and an active calendar of activities, outings, and specialty events; many families described well-run admissions, helpful transportation to appointments, and staff who support discharge planning and transitions back home.

Clinical-staff performance is described unevenly. Numerous accounts highlight dedicated, compassionate nurses, therapists, and aides who go above and beyond; other accounts describe delays in attending to basic needs, slow call-light responses, and variability in consistent personal-care tasks. This divergence creates a recognizable pattern: strong therapy and many examples of high-quality clinical interactions coexisting with operational strains that affect day-to-day nursing care, particularly during longer stays.

Management and administrative processes are another recurring theme. Positive comments reflect helpful admissions staff and responsive therapy coordinators, but there are also repeated concerns about communication breakdowns (long phone hold times, unanswered messages), inconsistent or uninformative care conferences, billing disputes, and occasional aggressive or unprofessional interactions. Families also raised issues with laundry handling and missing personal items, which point to weaknesses in supply and personal-item workflows.

Facility environment and amenities are generally described favourably: clean, well-maintained interiors, a pleasant courtyard and communal spaces, and a range of recreational programming that supports social engagement. That said, reviewers reported episodic maintenance and operational reliability problems (for example, HVAC or hot-water interruptions) that can affect comfort and care delivery when they occur.

Overall pattern and recommendation: Hillspring appears to be a strong option for short-term, goal-oriented rehabilitation where therapy intensity and clinical interdisciplinary teams are priorities. The primary areas for prospective residents and families to evaluate further are staffing consistency for long-term stays, responsiveness to basic-care needs, laundry and personal-item procedures, and the facility’s communication and billing practices. Asking targeted questions about shift staffing levels, call-response protocols, infection-control policies, and how care-plan updates are documented will help families make an informed placement decision consistent with their priorities.
