    Warm professional dementia memory care

I placed my father in their dementia-focused memory care and couldn't be happier. The staff are genuinely caring and professional-Jane, Jen, Charity and Megan deserve special mention-the building is clean, bright and homey, with excellent dining and lots of engaging activities. Transition support was seamless and I have real peace of mind; I highly recommend this warm, well-managed community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Fairmont Senior Living of Washington Township is described by many families as a warm, family‑oriented community with strong strengths in caregiving, dining, and activities. Reviewers consistently praise compassionate direct-care staff, long-tenured employees in several roles, and a bright, well‑maintained public environment. The community offers a range of care levels including assisted living and a secure memory‑care unit, plus on‑site clinical services (physician, podiatry, physical therapy) and transportation to off‑site appointments, which many families find convenient.

Care and staff: A prominent theme is staff engagement — caregivers, nurses, dining staff and activities personnel are often characterized as attentive, empathetic and proactive. Several reviewers highlighted individualized care plans and designated caregivers who know residents by name, which supports comfort and continuity. At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns: the facility faces hiring and retention pressures that contribute to inconsistent frontline training and variability in staff knowledge of resident profiles. Some families described slower response times to call lights or delayed clinical follow-up after acute events, and a few noted instances of distracting staff behavior (for example, personal device use) and concerns about staff conduct or communication tone. Management transitions and occasional communication or billing issues were also cited as affecting consistency.

Dining and nutrition: Dining is a strong point for many families. The community is frequently commended for an accommodating chef, appealing menus, attention to nutrition, and an inviting dining room. Activities around meals (holiday brunches, special events) are noted as enhancing quality of life. However, there are intermittent reports of inconsistent meal‑service execution—plate cleanup and meal presentation have room for improvement in some instances—so meal experience can vary by shift.

Activities and social life: The activity program is robust and varied, with on‑campus programming (holiday events, music, lectures, visiting church groups, animal visits) and frequent outings to local restaurants and entertainment. Reviewers point to a capable activities director, purposeful scaling of activities for residents’ abilities, and many family‑friendly events. This area is consistently described as promoting socialization and resident engagement.

Facilities and safety: Common areas, dining spaces, and some resident rooms are described as modern, bright and hotel‑like; outdoor patios and accessible grounds are valued. Nevertheless, multiple reviews identify facility‑level physical issues: smaller or older resident rooms, worn carpets or flooring that raise fall‑safety considerations, limited natural light in some rooms, and bolted or difficult windows. There are occasional comments about wayfinding in the larger building footprint. A small number of accounts raise sanitation or pest‑control concerns in isolated instances; these appear to be exceptions rather than the dominant experience but warrant operational attention.

Management and notable patterns: Many families praised effective transition support, compassionate leadership, and long‑term staff members who provide continuity. Conversely, ownership or management changes were mentioned as sources of unease for some families, and concerns about affordability (including medication‑management cost) were frequent. The strongest operational themes to address are staffing and training consistency, responsiveness and clinical follow‑up processes, and variability in resident‑room condition and meal execution. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s clear strengths in dining, activities and engaged staff against these operational caveats, and consider an in‑person tour that inspects room size/lighting, flooring, staff response times, and asks specific questions about staffing levels, training, medication charges, and recent management changes.

About Fairmont Senior Living of Washington Township

Fairmont Senior Living of Washington Township is a senior living community that gives different kinds of care for older adults, like independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing. Folks can choose from several apartment types like studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, or companion suites, all with accessible bathrooms and kitchenettes, and there are some ground floor and garden view units, too, which makes it easier for those who want to be near outdoor spaces or need more accessibility. Residents have access to community spaces, a dining room with tables set for meals, a library with a built-in fish tank, a fitness center, an arts and crafts room, and plenty of cozy lounges and outdoor areas for relaxing, gardening, or walking, so there are always places to spend time or meet with neighbors or visiting family, and they also let some pets stay with residents.

People living here get help with daily things like getting dressed, bathing, using the bathroom, and taking medicine, and care is provided around the clock by nurses and trained staff, including CNAs and Resident Assistants, which brings peace of mind to families who need more support for their loved ones, especially with Alzheimer's or memory issues, and they also have respite and hospice services when needed. Memory care is rooted in a Montessori Inspired Lifestyle approach, and the community holds a Gold Credential from the Center for Applied Research in Dementia for its person-centered care, which means staff gives attention to residents' interests and backgrounds and uses group and individual activities designed just for the person, so there's dignity and engagement even for those with dementia or cognitive struggles. The memory care area has secure doors, a Wander Guard system, indoor walking paths, and staff who receive ongoing training in safety, ethics, and validation, so safety stays a top priority.

Fairmont Senior Living offers meals cooked daily, and folks can eat together in a restaurant-like dining area, have snacks throughout the day, or request room service if they'd rather dine in their room, and special diets like low or no sodium and kosher get accommodated, so people's health and personal wishes get respected. The team plans activities inside and outside the building, such as gardening club, arts and crafts, book clubs, music programs, exercise groups, cooking club, game nights, story hour, lectures, and social events, and there are seasonal events as well, so residents have chances to be social, learn, and stay active. For spiritual needs, religious services take place onsite and residents can join devotional activities.

Other helpful things include in-house physical, occupational, and speech therapy for a fee, free WiFi, cable TV in rooms, housekeeping, laundry, pharmacy services, home health care, barber and beautician appointments, and help with getting to doctor appointments, shopping, or outings, since transportation is available, and there's private parking for guests and residents. The campus is licensed by the state, accepts insurance, credit card, or checks for payment, and charges an entry fee to move in, but the amenities like gardens, putting green, music group, library, gym, and outdoor patios are all there to support health and social life. Staff help with VA benefits and case management if needed.

This place's design focuses on comfort and easy moving around, and residents can bring their furniture and decorate their own suites, so it feels homey, and since there's a full range of care, people can age in place if their health or needs change. The community's been providing care for over 13 years, so there's experience behind every service offered.
