    Caring staff helped me recover

I stayed at this community and had a very positive experience - the staff were professional, attentive, and genuinely caring, and the nurses and therapists helped me recover and return home. The building was clean and comfortable, the memory unit felt secure, administration was trustworthy, and I felt well cared for and would happily recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Sprenger Health Care Grande Village present a strongly mixed picture. Many families and residents praise the physical and occupational therapy programs, hospice and chaplain support, and a subset of nursing and aide staff who are described as attentive and compassionate. The facility’s physical environment is frequently noted as a strength: newer construction or well-maintained buildings, large private rooms, outdoor areas, and a range of on-site amenities (memory-support unit, social spaces, parking) are cited favorably. Admissions and some social-services staff receive positive mentions for helping with benefits and transitions.

At the same time, recurring operational weaknesses stand out across the feedback. Chronic understaffing, frequent staff turnover, and periodic leadership changes are linked to inconsistent clinical care, delayed responses to call buttons and emergencies, and gaps in follow-up on medical or wound issues. Several reviewers described medication and pharmacy delays, problems with following physician orders, and inconsistencies in hands-on nursing care; these comments point to uneven clinical oversight and care continuity. Reliance on temporary or day-labor aides is described as contributing to variable day-to-day service quality.

Dining and mealtime service are another area of divergence. Some families found the food acceptable or good, while others described poor meal quality, long delays, and inadequate accommodation for therapeutic diets or residents with chewing/swallowing needs. Activities programming receives positive remarks for outings, events, and entertainment in many accounts, yet a subset of reviewers reported limited activity options after admission or boredom among residents, suggesting inconsistent programming depending on unit or staffing levels.

Communication and administrative responsiveness appear to be inconsistent. Several reports highlight helpful, visible administrators and strong admissions staff; others describe poor communication with families, failures in discharge planning, unanswered calls, and unresponsiveness from management during critical incidents. There are also sanitation and odor concerns in some areas and reports that suggest weaknesses in housekeeping or incontinence-care practices. Allegations of billing irregularities and property-security problems (including inventory/belongings handling) were raised in a few reviews, which would warrant investigation by families or oversight entities.

In summary, the facility exhibits clear strengths in rehabilitation services, hospice support, amenities, and the performance of many individual staff members. However, persistent themes of understaffing, turnover, inconsistent nursing practice, communication breakdowns, and variability in dining and activities indicate operational gaps that can materially affect resident experience and safety. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s therapy and environmental advantages against these operational concerns, ask specific questions about staffing ratios, clinical oversight, therapeutic-diet management, incident-response protocols, and billing/property controls, and seek recent, facility-specific information from management and regulators before deciding.

About Sprenger Health Care Grande Village

Sprenger Health Care Grande Village sits as a large senior community offering many options for care, with 120 beds and several different room layouts, like studio and suite choices, and you'll find people come here whether they need independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or hospice. The nursing home part has a 3-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and folks in online reviews have given it an average of 7.3 out of 10. Grande Village has places called Skilled Nursing, Suites, and Villas, and residents can pick where they feel comfortable, with private suites giving more independence and space, and assisted living apartments in the Suites and Villas areas that include personal support and services. Seniors can get care for daily needs, medicine reminders, or help after surgery, and the staff has nurses, therapists, and aides who can help with day-to-day care, rehabilitation, wound treatment, and support for memory loss or dementia. The facility has a full range of modern equipment for physical, occupational, and speech therapy, along with short-term rehab after a hospital stay, and there are respite care programs that let family caregivers get a break or help seniors recover from surgery.

Life at Grande Village can be active, with many social and educational programs like movie nights, music activities, games, or arts, and there are walking paths, outdoor spaces, a putting green, billiards lounge, a pool, fitness room, library, and main street common areas, so residents have places to gather or keep up with hobbies. Dining is pretty flexible, with several meal options made by chefs who focus on local favorites and cultural dishes, and there's room service, late-night snacks, guest meals, and diets for special needs like low-sodium or low-sugar, plus complimentary snacks. You'll find a salon and barbershop, regular housekeeping, laundry, family support, and easy access to Wi-Fi, a movie room, bar/pub, and a playground for visiting grandchildren. Grande Village has a 12-16 hour nursing presence, a supervision system that's always on, and a 24-hour call button for help with any daily or medical issue that pops up, so someone's always nearby when needed. For folks who need a higher level of care, such as long-term skilled nursing, the team has supervision and medical help, handling wound care or more complex needs.

This place is part of the Sprenger Health Care group, which runs more than 26 newly renovated facilities in Ohio and South Carolina, each designed with older adults' needs in mind. Transportation is simple here, with free rides, resident parking, and paid trips for more outings, and essential stops like pharmacies and urgent care are within a few miles. Grande Village tries to make things personal, so health plans come after careful assessments with the resident and family, and the memory care and La Buena Vida Latino Program, for example, aim to offer custom help for people who need it, whether it's support with Alzheimer's, specialized rehab, or language/cultural needs. Folks like the friendly staff, pretty setting, and easy atmosphere, and the common areas and landscaped grounds help people stay connected, active, and comfortable as they age in place.
