    Warm, clean, caring senior care

I placed my mother here and I'm very pleased - the facility is spotless, comfortable and peaceful, with spacious private rooms (you can bring your own furnishings), new rooms with a spa tub, and a solid rehab/exercise room. The staff are kind, professional and genuinely caring, activities and church groups keep residents engaged, and they even supported hospice and extended visits when we needed them - I'd recommend this warm, well-run place.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed picture of Glenwood Skilled Nursing & Therapy. Many comments commend the facilityโ€™s cleanliness, pleasant physical environment, and several clinical and social services: skilled nursing, an active therapy program with an exercise/rehab room, hospice availability, and a range of activities (board games, visiting church groups). Families and residents also describe compassionate, caring employees and an ability to personalize private rooms, with several accounts praising renovated spaces and therapeutic features.

Care quality perceptions vary. Positive accounts highlight competent nursing care, effective physical therapy, and reliable medication support. Conversely, there are consistent concerns about medication administration processes and medication-safety controls; one review includes an allegation of a serious medication error that families should consider when evaluating clinical oversight. Clinical follow-through and therapy outcomes are reported as uneven โ€” some residents improve with rehab services, while others experienced disappointment in therapy consistency or discharge readiness.

Staffing and responsiveness are recurring themes. Reviews indicate variable staffing levels and high turnover, which is linked to slow responses to call lights and delays in attending to resident needs. Several accounts describe inconsistent personal-care schedules, including bathing, linen changes, and continence support. These operational gaps are frequently connected to observed staffing shortages and to variability in individual caregiver performance.

Dining, sanitation, and personal effects management show mixed signals. Multiple families report unreliable meal service (cold meals, missing utensils, inconsistent meal presentation) and uneven adherence to dietary accommodations. At the same time, reviewers commonly note that common areas and rooms are kept clean and orderly. Concerns about laundry, lost clothing, and reimbursement or belongings handling appear repeatedly and point to process weaknesses in personal-property management.

Communication and management practices generate notable concern. Several reviewers describe delayed or incomplete incident reporting to families, front-desk or administrative staff who were perceived as unhelpful or unprofessional, and inconsistent follow-through on promises (billing/reimbursement and supply provision). There are also complaints about infection-control and outbreak handling in specific instances. Taken together, these items suggest operational and leadership issues that affect family trust.

For prospective residents and families: Glenwood shows strengths in environment, select clinical services, and social programming, and many individual staff members receive praise. However, patterns in the reviews point to inconsistent staffing, responsiveness, personal-care routines, meal service, medication-safety controls, and administrative communication. Those considering admission should observe staffing levels during different shifts, ask for specifics about medication-safety protocols and incident reporting procedures, review hygiene and dietary schedules, and clarify policies about personal belongings and billing before making a placement decision.

About Glenwood Skilled Nursing & Therapy

Glenwood Skilled Nursing & Therapy sits at 1700 East 141st St in Glenpool, Oklahoma, and has been running since January 1st, 1994, and folks here get care for all sorts of needs, whether it's long-term care, help after surgery or hospital stays, or managing serious illnesses like dementia, heart problems, or diabetes, and, well, they've got a team with experience handling complicated things such as wound care, joint replacements, strokes, or respiratory illnesses, working to keep everyone as healthy and comfortable as possible. There's skilled nursing around the clock and therapists who handle physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and these services try to help residents recover skills, regain strength, or just stay as independent as they can, while memory care helps those with dementia or Alzheimer's, and for those facing life-limiting illnesses, palliative and hospice care services aim to offer comfort and support for both residents and their families during tough times. You'll find both private and semi-private rooms, with housekeeping and laundry included, and they've got mobile lab and X-ray services if someone needs tests done right there, along with transportation for medical appointments when getting out isn't so easy, and all this comes together with amenities like gardening, art projects-like canvas painting and wood crafts-plus morning and ice cream socials, and events to keep people engaged if they want to join in, and a resident council lets folks have a say in daily life. The place takes a measured approach, assessing each person to decide what's really needed, from diabetes management to colostomy care, and tries to deliver support that fits, which includes short-term rehab to bridge the gap between a hospital stay and going home, and intermediate care for those frailer residents who depend fully on nursing care day to day. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services lists Glenwood Skilled Nursing & Therapy as a high-quality provider, though online reviews average a 2.6 rating from 20 people, so experiences do vary. There's also help for families sorting out long-term care options or insurance, and career opportunities for staff looking to work in this field. While it's classified as a skilled nursing facility and a nursing home, Glenwood blends rehabilitation, skilled nursing, memory care, wound care, and a mix of activities in an environment that tries to be supportive, though like anywhere, it's important to look around for yourself, ask questions, and see what matters most for whoever might be moving in.
