    Caring attentive staff, welcoming community

I moved my mom here and have been very pleased. The staff are caring, attentive, and communicative, management is responsive, and the smaller, well-maintained community feels welcoming. We love her roomy private room, the large enclosed courtyard and gardens, and the many activities that keep residents engaged; the memory care team has been excellent. Close to home and reasonably priced, this place gives us real peace of mind - I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Arbor House of Mustang is generally described as a well-maintained, resident-focused assisted living community with a strong emphasis on attentive caregiving and an active social program. Families and visitors frequently highlight caring staff, proactive maintenance, and attractive outdoor spaces as defining strengths. Several accounts describe a comfortable, country-club–style campus with a welcoming entrance and an approachable leadership presence.

Care and staff: The dominant theme across feedback is positive staff performance. Caregivers and nursing staff are commonly characterized as attentive, responsive, and compassionate, including in the memory-care unit where 24/7 availability is noted. Reviewers emphasize personalized attention, respectful interactions, and close caregiver–resident relationships that provide family members with peace of mind. At the same time, a number of comments point to intermittent staffing shortages or variability in day-to-day staffing levels, which can lead to inconsistent experiences depending on timing and shift coverage.

Dining and nutrition: Dining is a mixed area. The community receives credit for accommodating special diets and modified textures for residents with swallowing needs, and for providing snacks and social dining events. However, recurring concerns reference inconsistent meal quality and taste, as well as a perceived decline in food standards at times. Prospective families should assess current menus and sample meals during a visit to determine whether dining meets their expectations.

Activities and social life: Activity programming is a consistent strength. Reviewers describe a varied calendar that includes trips (for example weekly shopping runs), church services, bingo, socials, holiday programming, entertainment, and outdoor engagement in courtyard and garden areas. Staff in activities roles are frequently singled out as compassionate and energetic, and residents appear to form meaningful social bonds through these offerings.

Facilities and maintenance: Facility upkeep and cleanliness receive generally positive remarks: prompt housekeeping, regular room cleaning, and quick maintenance responses are highlighted. The campus features an enclosed green space, courtyard gardens, and a butterfly garden that support outdoor walking and socializing. Some reviewers, however, cite variable cleanliness or odor concerns in specific areas and note limited natural light in parts of the building; room sizes and layouts are described as variable, and availability of preferred room types may be constrained by the facility’s smaller scale.

Management and communication: Management is often described as open, communicative, and responsive, with instances of clear family updates and proactive engagement. Nonetheless, there are isolated reports of miscommunication at intake or during transitions that were later resolved, and some families described inconsistent administrative coordination. Wait-listing and limited immediate availability were also mentioned, so timelines for move-in can vary.

Notable patterns and considerations: The overall pattern is one of strong interpersonal care, active programming, and well-maintained grounds balanced against operational variability in dining, staffing, and occasional cleanliness/odor issues. Prospective residents and families would benefit from an in-person tour that includes a meal sampling, conversation with both management and direct-care staff across shifts, and a review of current staffing/availability. Those prioritizing an engaged activities program, responsive maintenance, and a small, community atmosphere are likely to find Arbor House appealing; those for whom consistent dining quality, abundant natural light, or immediate room availability are top priorities should confirm those specifics during a visit.

    About Arbor House of Mustang

Arbor House of Mustang sits off Hwy 152 on Clear Springs Road in Mustang, Oklahoma, and stands as a senior living community offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, respite care, and personal care for older adults who want different levels of support, so if someone wants a bit of help or needs more hands-on care, they can find it here. The residence feels cozy and home-like, with private suites that come with their own bathrooms, kitchenettes, refrigerators, closets, laundry access, and safety systems like emergency call buttons, plus the rooms have carpeting and heat and air you can control. The memory care building was designed specifically for people with Alzheimer's disease or dementia and uses a secured entry and a computerized wander alert system-residents wear bracelets that can signal staff if someone is at risk of wandering, so families feel reassured about safety.

Folks will find outdoor courtyards, walking paths, gathering spaces, and landscaped grounds where they can visit with others or just get some fresh air, and inside, there are indoor lounges, recreation rooms, a TV lounge, library, internet access, fireplaces, a piano/organ, and areas for worship and fellowship. Staff, including nurses and specially trained caregivers who follow the Best Friends® Approach, are always around to help, whether that means giving reminders about medication, helping with blood sugar checks or insulin, or supporting residents who need standby or assisted transfers if walking is hard, or if someone acts out or tries to leave the building, staff step in fast to help. The place is pet friendly, too, for those who like the comfort of animals.

Residents pick from a range of activities each day, with an activity director arranging stretching, yoga, art, cooking, gardening, Wii bowling, wine tasting, community service programs, and trips out; there's also lots of room to pursue individual hobbies. The Life in Motion program keeps people social, connected, and purposeful, with daily events, and you'll find that caregivers-who go by "friends" here-spend time to build strong relationships with residents. Dietary needs like gluten-free, low sodium, and low sugar get met with Gold Leaf Dining, three home-style meals each day, restaurant-style seating, and even guest meals for visiting loved ones. There are beautician services, housekeeping, and laundry help available, and transportation with resident parking handled when it's time for shopping or appointments.

The entire property is secured for peace of mind, with professional staff up and awake 24 hours a day, so someone's always nearby, plus property managers oversee the community's well-being. Arbor House of Mustang also offers speech, occupational, physical, and restorative therapies, devotional services onsite and offsite, and provides both independent and assisted living resources for those who can do most things on their own but want company and support close by, as well as more tailored, person-centered memory care for those living with dementia. The environment encourages dignity, respect, and friendships among neighbors, and living here aims to help seniors stay active, engaged, and feeling at home, whether through gardening in the courtyard, joining art classes, attending devotional moments, or just relaxing with fellow residents in a warm and caring place.
