    Caring community with excellent services

I live here and I'm very pleased with the community - kind, caring staff, an awesome owner, great activities and three meals served daily. Rent is affordable and includes free housekeeping and laundry, so overall it's a wonderful place I happily recommend.

    Summary of reviews

The Harbor elicits a mixture of positive impressions and substantive operational concerns. Positive remarks center on its community environment, routine services, and perceived value: reviewers highlight compassionate staff, a supportive atmosphere, three meals a day, included housekeeping and laundry, and regular entertainment. Several accounts also commend the owner and describe the facility as a desirable workplace, which correlates with reports of good interpersonal care in some cases.

Care quality and staff behavior are areas of mixed feedback. Some families and employees describe attentive, caring interactions and appropriate hands-on care. At the same time, other accounts raise issues about staff responsiveness, communication tone, and privacy protections. There are concerns about inconsistent approaches to basic care tasks and frustration when family needs or requests are not addressed in a timely manner. Additionally, there are serious reviewer claims about medication handling and financial interactions; these raise questions about oversight of medication administration and billing/possession practices that prospective families should investigate further.

Dining and activities are consistently noted as strengths. The facility provides three meals daily and a range of activities and entertainment, which contribute to a positive daily routine for residents. Included housekeeping and laundry services are also frequently cited as value-added features that support resident well-being and reduce family burden.

The physical environment shows a clear pattern of needed investment. Multiple comments refer to dated decor, worn flooring, and furnishings in shared spaces, along with cleanliness and sanitation concerns in certain common areas. Exterior maintenance and curb appeal were also described as below expectations by some visitors. These facility-condition issues can affect impressions of overall care quality and should be assessed during an in-person visit.

Safety and resident-management patterns were another area of concern. Reviewers identified perimeter and security vulnerabilities and raised issues about resident-to-resident substance-use challenges and how those situations are handled, including eviction processes. There are also complaints about inconsistent communication with families and occasional practices that placed responsibility for basic supplies or decisions on relatives rather than staff. Together, these items suggest gaps in operational consistency and family engagement.

For prospective residents and families: the Harbor offers clear advantages in community, included services, and affordability, but it also has recurring operational concerns that merit targeted questions. During a tour, ask about staffing levels and turnover, medication administration and oversight procedures, cleaning schedules and recent maintenance or renovation plans, security measures for the campus perimeter, protocols for handling substance-use or behavior incidents, and how billing and supply responsibilities are managed with families. Verifying documentation of policies and speaking with current families or recent residents can help clarify which aspects are strengths and which are areas needing improvement.
