    Compassionate staff and excellent care

I felt consistently cared for by a compassionate, stable team who knew me by name, were responsive to concerns, and went out of their way - Reanna and many others were outstanding. The facility is clean and secure (keypad), allows personal furniture, has excellent food (fresh cookies and occasional ice cream), plenty of activities and outdoor space, and staff even helped navigate Medicaid and exceeded expectations with my dad's CHF care; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews convey a consistently positive impression of care and staff at this memory-care community. Families and observers emphasize a compassionate, resident-centered culture supported by a stable team of caregivers and engaged administration. Clinical competence is highlighted in specific areas such as heart-failure management and end-of-life support, and staff responsiveness and personal familiarity with residents are recurring strengths.

Care and staff: The dominant theme is the quality of interpersonal care. Caregivers are described as attentive, kind, and consistent — often learning residents' names and responding promptly to concerns. Reviewers describe a family-like atmosphere and cite specific staff members and teams for compassionate support. Clinical aspects of care are viewed favorably, including assistance with complex chronic conditions and coordination during a resident's final days. The facility also offers practical supports such as Medicaid navigation help.

Dining and activities: Dining receives positive remarks for taste and the availability of treats (afternoon cookies, occasional ice cream). Activity programming includes music-focused options (sing-alongs, a music room), communal TV space, and an outdoor courtyard that families mention as a valued source of fresh air and engagement. The combination of scheduled activities and small treats contributes to a homey, social environment.

Facilities and safety: The community emphasizes security appropriate to a memory-care setting: keypad access and controlled exits are in place, which reviewers frame as strong for resident safety. Housekeeping and maintenance practices are described as proactive — frequent carpet cleaning and targeted floor repairs are called out — and residents are permitted to personalize rooms with their own furniture and TVs. A few comments note that the building’s appearance is functional rather than highly modern or decorative.

Management and notable patterns: Administration involvement and follow-through are reported positively; families describe staff and leadership as responsive when issues arise. The dominant pattern across comments is that relational and clinical strengths outweigh concerns. Two operational caveats emerge: the unit operates as a secure memory-care environment with limited egress by design, and double-occupancy rooms are common, which can limit private single-room availability. Prospective families should weigh the facility’s strong caregiving and safety profile against preferences for private accommodations or a more updated aesthetic.

About Marquis Autumn Hills Residential Memory Care

Marquis Autumn Hills Residential Memory Care sits in Portland, Oregon, on SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy, and it's designed for seniors with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia who need more medical help after illness, surgery, or a hospital stay, including those who can't walk on their own. The building isn't part of a Continuing Care Retirement Community and holds up to 22 people in a secure setting, with rooms that come private or semi-private, already furnished for comfort. The focus stays on safety, with color-coordinated walls that help with orientation, and a robust 24-hour supervision and call system, plus an alert system if a resident leaves the secure area. Trained staff help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, moving, and managing medications, and they pay special attention to each person's regular habits and health, which makes daily routines feel safer and more familiar.

Residents get to join in activities set up by the community, like music therapy with classical radio, pet visits from dogs, art projects in a dedicated room, movie nights, and resident-run get-togethers all through the week, which keep people engaged and less lonely. Meal services happen any time during the day in a shared dining room, serving foods seniors enjoy, like Cream of Wheat, fruit, and hot coffee, and special diets get attention when needed. There's a small garden, pretty walking paths, and a community lounge, so folks can get outside, stay active, or sit quietly with others. The facility has its own barber and salon, a well-stocked library, cable TV, Wi-Fi, telephones in rooms, and comfortable spots for family visits-families are welcome to stop by and share meals or join activities with their loved ones. Housekeeping, laundry, dry cleaning, and linens are taken care of. The team checks in on residents' health daily, and they work closely alongside families to keep routines gentle and comforting.

They accept both Medicaid and Medicare, which makes care more affordable for many people. Marquis Autumn Hills has a 4-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and shows an 8.4 out of 10 community rating, ranking as the 25th highest in the city. The staff get special training to help people with memory loss and know how to give gentle reminders or help manage confusion. The grounds have areas for walking and gardens to enjoy, with spaces set aside for relaxing or joining in group events. This isn't a flashy place, but it keeps things warm and consistent, valuing person-centered care so everyone feels looked after and safe. Marquis Autumn Hills belongs to the Marquis Companies group and connects with Oregon Care Careers, offering jobs and training in elder care.
